Anyone know if can you get the service plan ordered even if you haven’t taken delivery of the car yet?
You can buy them online at any time, but you need a reg number. ETA https://toyotagbplc.service123.co.uk/serviceplan/q...
ETA2 There's a healthy uplift in terms of actual service costs vs service plan cost, which based on a quick calc still makes the service plan more expensive than the price increase.

Bin the safety checks that’s Toyotas version of snake oil.
I was thinking that, presumably not needed to qualify for the 10yr warranty?ferrisbueller said:
They state the safety checks are mandatory. Depending on the mileage you do, it may be a non-issue i.e. if you're doing 12k a year you get one every 6 months anyway as part of the service.
Pretty sure only the UK have them. I’ve never seen the term mandatory used though? ferrisbueller said:

Service plans are the same price as servicing just spread out over the year. Poor concept for me when Fiat offers/offered a service plan that was cheaper than the combined cost. ETA https://toyotagbplc.service123.co.uk/serviceplan/q...

Hmm. Looking at what you've posted there, that does not reflect the numbers we were given. I will go back and query this with Toyota.
You can get a quote direct from here: after submitting your details (prior to any payment) you’ll get a text and email with the quote. If you want it discuss with your dealer instead of paying online it might be worth having a copy of what you think it is. ecsrobin said:

New service pricing confirmed by Toyota service:
£300 intermediate (was £190)
£450 full (was £340)
£75 safety check (was £50)
As of 1st August.
If you buy a service plan this month they will remain at todays prices.
Ouch.
This actually annoys me more than it should. £300 for what amounts to an oil change is a load of tosh. £75 for the safety check is even worse, bung us £75 and we will make sure we "Check installation of driver's floor mat." Warranty is linked to correct servicing of the vehicle, the 6m isn't a service. It lives in that grey area where everyone is worried that it will count if the engine poops itself and you need to use the warranty.£300 intermediate (was £190)

The GR Yaris is subject to a ‘Safety Check’ every six months. As of 2022, this costs £50, unless it coincides with the car’s service, in which case there’s no extra cost.
This would be part of the warranty T&C's and may affect your warranty if the safety check is not completed.
The wording seems to change every time you ask someone. This would be part of the warranty T&C's and may affect your warranty if the safety check is not completed.
It is such a load of doodoo meant to worry you that it might invalidate your T&C's. But what could you potentially invalidate by not doing the safety check.
Inspect clutch fluid.
Inspect brake fluid.
Inspect brake pads & discs.
Inspect tyre condition & inflation pressures.
Check brake pedal height & hand brake lever operation.
Check installation of driver's floor mat.
Check operation of lights, horns, wipers & washers.
Nothing is actually serviced at the safety check. They basically walk around your car and check the consumables and that your lights work. I am pretty sure if your engine lunched itself, as long as you actually have the car serviced to the book they cannot turn around and say its not covered because we didn't check your washer jets every 6 months. Toyota don't even state they check your oil level.

Correct, and that's why it's called a safety check, not a service.
Exactly,There seems to be so much word play at work which is extremely frustrating as a customer. But then this subject is right up there with, if I modify my car will it invalidate the warranty.
Toyota’s standard vehicle warranty does not cover: neglect, abuse or misuse. The use of non-approved performance enhancements and modifications would not represent a manufacturing defect and would not be supported under the terms of your Warranty.
Contact your local dealer for more information on Toyota warranties.
The biggest thing is the only country in the world with the GR Yaris on sale that has a safety check is the UK. If this was a Toyota head office directive then so be it but this is a Toyota UK money grabbing exercise with a clever play on words to make you doubt you’re doing the right thing. Some dealers say it won’t impact warranty’s some say it will and some are in between. I’ve done one and won’t do any more.
