Does anyone recall the deals that were available on the Golf R, IE how much you had to put down?
For 0% / 2 years on the GRY, it was circa £9k, which AIUI is quite a high amount. I think the target audience for a GRY is very different to a Golf R - especially used.
Most 'old' Golf Rs / S3s / other VAG mobiles I see these days tend to be driven very badly by the innit bruv brigade. I somehow don't see this happening with the GRY...
Not sure but APR in 2021 was 4.6% from VW finance and the base car was close to £40k for the mk8 RFor 0% / 2 years on the GRY, it was circa £9k, which AIUI is quite a high amount. I think the target audience for a GRY is very different to a Golf R - especially used.

There was no minimum deposit on the GR Yaris PCP’s
Some buyers just put in £500 to take advantage of the lower rates on offer.
Indeed - amended my earlier post to add context, IE to keep the monthlies at circa 300, in line with the Golf R deals people were raving about circa 2017.Some buyers just put in £500 to take advantage of the lower rates on offer.

Not a like for like comparison. As those deals had even gone by 2019. What I do know is nearly all competitors were offering between 4-9% from memory when Toyota were offering 0-1.9%

My Q's about Golf R deals were prompted by the discussion earlier on the thread re influx of cars coming to the end of deals:DriveSnowdonia said:

PCP was 0% for 2 years or 1.9% for 42 months (from memory) as the cars have dropped through I doubt you will suddenly have a huge influx of cars appearing just the normal churn, we’re already past the first 0% cars coming to their end.
And that will probably have been a big factor in a lot of sales. Same as it was with the Golf R a few years back when they were everywhere because of the favorable PCP deals. But PCP costs have increased quite a bit recently as has the general cost of living. So I wonder how many would have bought the GR originally without the rather generous finance deal?Just had an advert pop up in my email for a part that Severn Valley have developed with Jenvey for a big port manifold - I think it allows bigger injectors and more volume in the inlet.
Better for their 400hp conversion it seems:

I tried to post yesterday but could not:
I have seen that Jenvey are offering an upgrade inlet manifold with more volume and allows bigger injectors - selling through Severn Valley in a 400hp upgrade.
I wonder if 400 hp would corrupt the car with lag and boosty driving etc...would be a weapon - I am sure but part of me things 300hp would still be enough in this car?

Some people always want more power and can't stop messing about with originality.I have seen that Jenvey are offering an upgrade inlet manifold with more volume and allows bigger injectors - selling through Severn Valley in a 400hp upgrade.

I would love to know what I'd do with any modifications. The car has more than enough power for any situation I find myself on the road and if it goes on a track it will be a very rare event, so I couldn't justify any changes for that.

For B-road use, initial impressions of the stock setup are very positive. Track use may be another matter.
My Boxster had a suspension refresh 18 months ago - M030 / factory sports suspension spec, which is 10mm lower than standard, IE not a lot. Genuinely would not want the car any lower for the Yorkshire Dales.
Some fellow with a slammed Boxster was completely out of his depth on those roads. It looked cool, but wasn't very fast.
Feel the same principles apply to most cars. A setup that works well on track may not be good for fast B-road stuff, and vice-versa. Something that's slammed will likely be sh!t to drive regardless. "Looks cool though innit"
Seem to recall the Litchfield Nitrons had relatively low intervals between requiring rebuild / maintenance. Would be tempted to try Öhlins at their highest setting.
