Pricey!

Mine was just over £34k - (Circuit in black) three years ago on 0% finance. The MK2 equivalent will be approx. £45k on ?? % finance - plus the £2k additional road tax over five years. I assume it includes the BBS alloys at that price?

I can see many a prospective new GR buyer being put off by these prices (and [lack of] availability) and instead going for a lightly used MK1 and saving themselves a packet. MK1 values to stay strong by the looks of it.

I agree, if there was a 'night and day' difference in the two models, the massive uptick in pricing may be justified, but the car looks the same externally, has an updated interior around the dash layout etc., and incremental upgrades elsewhere, not a game changer over the Mk1 in other words....

I thought I was going to have to make a decision on keeping the MK1 or getting a MK2 but apparently my interest was never registered or it got lost when my dealer swapped from Inchscape to Steven Eagle.

Of course but it looks like you have to have also registered your interest which I thought I did with my dealer but they are now saying I didn’t.

It’s my fault really as I should have pressured more for some kind of acknowledgment but they had treated me well before so I didn’t.

I placed my order with Inchscape but collected from Steven Eagle. I havent recieved anythng from Toyota on the Mk2, not that im looking to replace it as ive only had it for 4 months!

I think you’re interpreting it wrong. Current owners and those who registered an interest will be contacted in May.

Why visit a dealer??? The press release was very clear it’s online only.

How would they know if you own one? They wouldn’t know unless you brought it new and after that they’d not know.

I will give you three guesses why someone with a Toyota might visit a Toyota dealer.

I've waited for some time for this new model to come out and was excited. I am not concerned about the price but I would want to order a new one. It seems I can't actually buy it. Can someone please confirm my understanding - I have no practical way of ordering a new GR without being an existing owner or having been on a waiting list? If so, what a sad day.

Correct.

It's frustrating. There are a couple of Porsches I would have liked in the past as well but there's nothing you can do about it unless you're prepared to pay a premium.

The good news is that when current owners 0% deals finish there will be lots more MK1 cars available, if those owners couldn't afford the old car outright then they have no chance of doing it for the MK2.

Toyota have shot themselves in the foot a bit with this, personally I won't be putting another £20-£25k in as well as my car for a new one, if I get offered a car I'd gladly help out someone who want's a MK2.

We’re now at 3.5 years since release so I doubt there will be an influx in cars appearing. I suspect it will stay around 200 cars for sale which seems to have been since day 1.
