Hi all,

I'm reaching out to all you good people to help me identify a car that my father bought new in the early 1970's (I think). Unfortunately he passed away many years ago but I have heard other family members talk about him buying a Japanese car in the days that they were a real rarity. I am pretty sure it is a Toyota as I recall that being mentioned too.

Having looked at various Google images my guess is that it is a Toyota Corona (it looks like there were lots of models though, so I can't be sure).

The car is long gone but I recollect it had a bench seat in black vinyl (which my older brother burnt with the cigar lighter!), but I can't even be sure that is right now, as it was nearly 50 years ago, I just want to know for my own peace of mind as I have fond memories of that time and seeing the car on the drive when we came home from school.

This is me standing in front of it almost 50 years ago and sadly it is the only photograph I have of the car.

Can anybody help please?

That's what I thought Sydney. The grille looks slightly different but they may have changed it for the UK market. I think it says Toyota between the two chrome strips, but the photo isn't great.
