2024 yaris GR, auto or manual?

would you prefer a 2024 yaris auto or manual

i would prefer manual but wondering about re sale values

will an auto be more special / valuable as the gen 1 had no auto ?

assuming there's paddle shift fitted to the auto (haven't seen anything on media for sure) it's auto for me if I get the chance to order one

Autos are not normally more desirable in the used market than manuals.

It's your car, buy the spec you want.

Things like resale values and what the next owner might fancy aren't worth not buying the car you want.

To me, the GR Yaris is a car to drive for the hell of it, and I want to feel as involved in the process as possible. Unless you are planning to extensively track, have no manual licence or have a disability that means you can’t change gear, surely has to be manual. If you prefer an auto, maybe the GR Yaris isn’t the car for you anyway?

Agreed. Cars like a performance Yaris or a performance MINI...should have manual gearboxes for me.

An auto can completely change the way a car feels as well in my opinion(either in a good way or a bad way depending on your perspective).

The auto does look to be a good one, I'm hoping to persuade the wife to trade in her ageing Yaris Hybrid for an auto version as she doesn't like manual cars. As I have a manual GR that I wouldn't change for anything having the option to have an auto version sounds a good idea to me.

One of the main reasons for producing the GR2 is to address the auto and track day market(s), so the majority will be autos.

Daft comment, a Jaguar or larger Mercedes is almost un sellable if specified as a manual.

I think the original comment was meant in terms of small and light high performance sports cars, in which case my opinion is that manuals are more desirable to the 2nd & 3rd owners who are likely to driving enthusiasts, sometimes more so in many cases than the original owner.
I think, for example, lack of a manuel option has held back the Alpine A110 from being very good to being truly great

however on a cayman, boxster or 911 they are worth more as an auto

the 4c and a110 are auto only - both doing ok residually

I agree a manual is my preferred choice.

I had a go in a A110S yesterday. Great car let down by a few things the biggest being the gearbox.

If its a weekend plaything, probably manual.

Definitely manual for me.. annoyed the manual doesn't get jbl speakers, forged wheels or parking sensors which the slush box gets.. bugger

Interesting that they mention a ‘modest increase in price’ quoting about £35k for the new car, as my circuit pack in pearl white was £36,500 list at delivery 18 months ago.
