I was in the Toyota dealer having my old shape '21 C-HR serviced & thought I'd take a look at the new model.

Every new model in the showroom & the all of the publicity shots I've seen has a black rear end, which is supposedly to demarcate it from the lessor models. But it got me thinking about what are they trying to disguise on the rear end styling?

The more I looked at the car the more I realised what a mess the rear end looks and that the 2 tone black is merely there to hide it

My take:

Old vs New
Funky vs Frumpy

Thoughts?

Love the original, think the new one is stunning.

I like the new C-HR, at least it's something a bit different. I imagine things might be a bit gloomy for rear-seat passengers though - their door windows look tiny.

According to the configurator, the entry-level model gets a body-coloured rear end.

It’s a trim level thing, they’ve done the same with Aygo X
