Being pedantic, it's 8ps or 7.8bhp more than the 2021 S.
I'm using the BHP figures as quoted by Alpine themselves...

Note: BHP = 1,013 869 665 424 PK ; hence 300BHP = 304 PK which also = 12 more PK than the old S of 292PK (288 BHP)

Damn confusing I agree! idea

Alpine quote 300ps (or 300hp, 296bhp) in all the literature I've seen for the new car, and 292ps for the old one.

I reckon they just stuck a few ‘S’ models on the dyno and thought “Oh, they do loosen up a bit”.

As a bit of light relief from all the “facelift” chat, has anyone fitted winter or all season tyres to their A110 and been through a UK winter? My Pure is due shortly and I will probably use it daily so I’m seriously thinking about all seasons or winters.

Dave, all,

So, in conclusion, the only changes of any serious note are:

  • the new GT and S get an extra 12 bhp and an extra 20 Nm - over the 2021 GT and 2021 S
  • all cars get CarPlay + Android Auto integrated into the infotainment system
  • more flexible option choices for the base model
Why are they calling it the 'new' A110 on the website given the meagre changes? It's less changes than some cars get in a model year upgrade, and way less than a proper facelift.

Hi Dave, you can start a new thread about tyres,on the new forum board! Only had the S for two days and haven’t thought about tyres yet. smile

I’ve been on this mission. I wanted to try some Michelin Alpin 5, but they were unavailable in the front size (205/40 R18). Similar issue finding Continental Wintercontact T850.

I’ve ordered the Pirelli Sottozero 3. My car has the 205/40 R18 front and 235/40 R18 at the rear. They’ll be a few weeks.

We have the Continental on our Golf R and they’ve been fantastic. The thing is unstoppable in winter with them on, even in thick snow.

To be fair the 4WD on the Golf R is really well set up.
Had several winters on mine, only ever used summer tyres and as you say unstoppable in all conditions

… and in (a privately owned space, with the landowner's permission) the snow you can turn in, boot it and slide around which is fun.

The PH news piece on the facelift car mentioned a harness bar (I believe). Can't see this on the configurator - has anyone else seen it?

Completely different subject - anyone know the best place to buy alternative but genuine wheels for the A110? I really like the look of the new S diamond cut wheels and also the new GT Grand Prix wheels too. Maybe I’ll just order a GT ??????

“Aren’t you the guy who had the Vantage? Why’d you get this French rubbish instead?”

A local chap just stopped for a chat. That was his opening line. We did end up having a rather more informed view after the ensuing conversation about their similarities and differences. I don’t care what people think of the car. Ultimately this A110 is more fun, more of the time, on more roads than the old car. He said he withdrew his comment once I was done. Idk if I just bored him to death though.

I have the same opinion, sure it’s great to have an Aston or a McLaren or a Porsche or a V8 that and V6 bi-turbo this but in the end we all spend most of our time driving on the open road instead of burning tires on trackdays so I’ll take the nimble lightweight car with a zippy yet « un-noble » engine over the too heavy and too powerful for its own good muscle car/supercar.

This way I can have fun every time I go out for a drive, not spend half my week at the gas station and don’t pass for the rich guy of the neighborhood too.

I tried a lot of high hp stuff (Audi RS5, Mustangs, F-Type, Continental GT V8…) and still the sportcars I like the most are the Lotus Elise, Mazda MX5 and Alpine A110. Thrills at every turn instead of the thrill of waiting for an hypothetical speeding ticket everytime you go out or die of boredeom because you can’t hoon your 450hp V8 without second thoughts creeping in.

I tried the Bentley last month for a full day and this 570hp/2.200kg behemoth didn’t feel any faster than my A110 to pass on the highway plus it fell apart once I brought it on some French country roads. Big engine out front in a big heavy car made for some uninspiring cornering ! I know the Bentley isn’t trying to be the most fun road car since it’s the most extreme example of high-hp/high weight car but every other big hp / not-light car I tried suffers from this to some extent. I have no interest going 50 over the limit on the highway since it’s boring, dangerous and risky for my licence.
Give me the light and tossable fun sportcar any day of the week, nothing like trashing a light car into and out of every corner all day without stressing over your points or your gas or your tires.

Absolutely. The new GT86 looks like it might be a contender as well although the looks are not attractive in the way the A110 is.

Not seen anything on this, although it looks like there is provision for 'something' on the bulkhead. Did it mention harness or harness bar? It might be that behind the carpet on the bulkhead there are two pre-drilled and tapped (or captive nut) M10 eye bolt holes, ready to go for some harness eye bolts?
I have never seen a bar used exclusively for harnesses unless part of a cage or roll hoop. Even my Nomad had eye bolts and that was all tubing!
