Anyone experiencing "bumpy" gear changes? Often when the car shifts in the low rev range and in comfort i feel sort of a bump threw the whole car. Especially during downshifts and when I come to a stand but sometimes during upshifts as well. I have experienced this with other dct cars but both of those shouldnt really pose as a reference point.

Nope, never. Very smooth set up is my experience, not jerky at all.

I’d have your garage take a look at it.

I’d say there’s sometimes a bit of transmission shunt between first and second gears when really crawling in traffic on a light throttle - around 10-15 mph, but other than it feels very smooth.

In Normal on a light throttle mine would never drop into 1st at anything like 10-15 mph and the upward change from first to second on a light throttle is always very smooth.

Overall it's very smooth - perhaps not quite as smooth as PDK on a Cayman, but very good nevertheless.

You’re right - it’s more like around walking pace - but it is a little bit lumpy/snatchy in mine under those circumstances. Otherwise creamy smooth.

Anyone waiting for the Evora reviews coming out tomorrow with a mind to jump out of their Alpine and into a new Lotus?

Emira, you mean?

I’m sure there will be a few, but even in its lightest guise it’s three hundred kilos heavier than the A110, which I think will make it a very different car. That appeals to different people.

And that’s if Lotus have managed to achieve the weight they claim. My Evora was much heavier than it was claimed to be.

I have an early Emira order in, although I changed what would have been one of the very first V6 manuals for one of the very first i4 cars. I will almost definitely get the Emira, but probably not now for a couple of years as I'm enjoying the Alpine too much just to chop in. In fact, I'll probably see if they'll do a road-going GT4 at some point and get that instead.

I'm pretty sure the reviews of the Emira will be very, very positive but for me it's a timing issue and nothing to do with the car itself.

Thanks for the correction, yes, an EV hypercar would not be a logical move for an A110 owner

Isn't the EV hypercar the Evija?

The Emira is the development of the Evora I thought.

They might be calling it Emira but anyone who’s done some digging knows it’s actually a reworked Evora which is one of the reasons it’s slightly porky. I didn’t believe it when I first heard it, then jayemm realised a video and it became obvious.

I suppose it’s not a bad thing as the evora was great but it goes to show how well the new owners have done with marketing and bringing build quality/design up to modern standards.

No need to apologise, criticism was deserved even if not intended. I should have checked with a quick Google search at least on the second post!

That's what they said they were doing with the Evora build quality, & it simply wasn't true, so I expect the Emira build quality will be an improvement over the Evora, but it won't be built to the same standards as other modern cars. You're right about the Evora being great, though, although it really was a car for people who love driving, rather than people who just want a nice car.

& to answer the original question, no, I'm not remotely interested in owning one of these heavy cars, that's wider than an Evora & has stupid 20" wheels.

‘Reworked’ is doing some pretty heavy lifting there. Yes, one of the two engines and two of the three gearboxes are the same, and that’s it.

Chassis has similarities, but that’s about it, I’m not sure there’s even a single part that carries over directly.

All the hard points are the same, they are definitely working off the Evora base. If you haven’t already seen it I encourage you to watch the jayemm breakdown, he even contacted Lotus. Like I said, it’s not a bad thing but I’d of liked to have seen a completely new chassis, I’m sure they could have improved upon what they had but no doubt the development costs would have been huge.

Is that the same JayEmm that headed up the Emira programme? Or just some youtuber?

I think "developed from" is probably fair. It's not just rebodied, but it is constructed similarly from the chassis photos. I reckon it'll be great, but in a very different way from the A110.

The Emira reviews are good but not great. TopGear tested the 6 cylinder supercharged Emira against the 6 cylinder Cayman and a base spec A110 and the result was:
1. A110
2. Emira
3. Cayman

Not bad for a 5 year old car £20k cheaper and 2 cylinders down on the other models.
