The Emira reviews are good but not great. TopGear tested the 6 cylinder supercharged Emira against the 6 cylinder Cayman and a base spec A110 and the result was:
1. A110
2. Emira
3. Cayman
Not bad for a 5 year old car £20k cheaper and 2 cylinders down on the other models.

Interesting reading indeed.
Evenng all,
Just got back to the UK on a visit and I decided to come over in the A110.
I foolishly thought I would be able to change the units being displayed (KM/h tp MP/h) by using the left stalk with settings - There does not appear to be a 'units' option, last one on my list is 'Language'
Do the UK cars have 'Units' as one of the changeable settings ? and do anyone with a non UK car have the option too ?

To be fair Car came to a different conclusion when testing the A110S against the Cayman GTS and Emira. Perhaps the Legende GT might have been more orthogonical competitor.
I know it's a but hippy dippy, but much as I enjoy the comparisons, I'd rather revel that we have so many great options. I love my A110, but I could happily find a place in my heart (if not my tiny garage) for an Emira, Cayman, GR86, Supra... I'm confident that I chose well, but I see things to admire in each. 355ferrarif1 said:

Odd - you should indeed be able to do this (I can on my ‘21 UK car). I take it you are already following the ‘customising the vehicle settings’ part of the manual?Just got back to the UK on a visit and I decided to come over in the A110.

From memory this can only be done engine off/ignition on.

As you say, power on but ignition off, hold the left stalk button in when on “settings menu” and this screen pops up
I expect the Emira with the Mercedes 4 cylinder turbo and DCT will be a better car than the ones recently reviewed. I believe the Emira V6 is an old Toyota unit Lotus has been using for awhile so it did not surprise me how unimpressed Jethro Bovingdon was with it (EVO YouTube).
Maybe Lotus can overcome the ride and handling issues reviewers have mentioned for the production cars.

The knackered old “taxi engine” in the Emira sounded incredible in the Exige - a real racecar howl and other unworldly noises. I expect they’ll get the exhaust noise sorted at some point in the Emira.
IMHO the Emira, with its junior supercar platform, needs the v6 noise as part of the package.
Lotus have always powered their cars with great engines from humble origins.

The issue with the V6 when planted into the Evora (and no doubt the Emira) was that it wasn’t all that fast with 1,400kg to haul, and eventually you’d start hankering for another thousand rpm. It was even more apparent after getting out of a 911 GT3 and that insane flat six that sounds like it’s trying to claw it’s way into the cabin at 9k rpm. An Exige I felt escaped that, the V6 dominated at all times no matter what.
Of course, this is just my view. The reason I pulled my Emira deposit is that for me, making the Alpine into something really special will cost about £15k at Life110, whereas turning the Emira (or an Evora) into something really special will be more like £50k.
It’ll still be a good car, and I hope they sell many of them, so that I can one day pick one up for reasonable money and V8 swap it

the alpine is a 1100kg car whilst the emira is a cayman competitor at 1400+ kg
I don't know any comparison that makes sense from a drivers perspective.
from an all round perspective, the cayman always wins with then 4.0 NA flat 6 and the frunk and boot. Its practical and works.
assuming all 3 do the sports car thing.
I was never sold on the high mounted toyota v6 but i did think the amg unit would be a better drivetrain.
If waitlists aren't a problem, the 718 Gt4 would get all the business..... except for the guys and gals that would prefer an 1100kg car and double wishbone all round suspension.

The A110 has more storage space than I need in a daily. Me and a laptop bag. It's cheaper, uses less fuel, costs less to service, and is more special - I see twenty Caymans for every other A110 at a guess. All that said I'd love a go in a GTS, but I don't think I'd swap, even for free.
It very much depends on your perspective - there isn't one single universal objective view of the world.

I would have thought that a car with such low build volume would have had one software set and not any differences - currently now chanting 30, 46, 80, 112 as my key Mp/h numbers

I think the A110 is a unique car which attracts a certain type of person. I've just got back from the France Alpine Drive Out as well as attending the Caffeine and Machine event earlier in the year. All that said I'd love a go in a GTS, but I don't think I'd swap, even for free.

The people you meet are passionate about driving, are fun and incredibly approachable. They have no ego nor do they care at all what others think of them. The reason for this I believe is that you have the choice of an A110 or a very nicely specced Porsche Cayman, and you chose the car that your friends would be least impressed by.
The owners tend to be a bit older, I'd say 50+ and have already had the Porsches, Astons etc and are looking for something a bit different.
So for me, when I see people hating on the A110 that's what I see, people who care about the wrong things and who I wouldn't want to own an A110 anyway.

Gah- how annoying. Wonder why they did that?I would have thought that a car with such low build volume would have had one software set and not any differences - currently now chanting 30, 46, 80, 112 as my key Mp/h numbers

There are quite a few vehicle or country specific features (?) mentioned in the manual - some thankfully absent on my car: such as the 'Overspeed Buzzer' that sounds at 120kph (74mph).

I checked this on my non-UK car today and I don't have units on the settings menu either. Last item in there was language. Do the UK cars have 'Units' as one of the changeable settings ? and do anyone with a non UK car have the option too ?
My car is 2022 A110 sourced from Belgium. It looks like this might be an UK thing.
