I’m with Admiral who have been fine after my accident, it’s Alpine who have caused the delays……

Insurance
My existing insurance company has closed its books for renewals so has anyone got any recommendations for insurers for Alpines please? Companies like Aviva insist on using their repair centres I'm not sure how that could work for an Alpine.
I thought insurers all would allow you to use your preferred repairer. Sure it could be more of a pain - and the insurer will want to inspect the car and approve the estimate. I know a bodyshop who do some insurance repairs, but are not all that keen because the insurers try to knock them down on hours - and they argue that this can compromise the quality of repair. My only real experience was with the Direct Line group (which cover a lot of other "brands" too) - and the repair they did was excellent with no corners cut that I could discern.

Admiral were good for my minor knock. Helped that the other party was in their same umbrella group potentially but I found them rapid and effective

Edit: I should add they had no issues with Renault/Alpine doing the repairs

Anyone else found that the automatic wipers are a bit rubbish?

Driving home last night there was patchy light rain, and even on highest sensitivity the wipers would only go occasionally. I ended up doing pretty much every wipe manually.

No- mine have always been fine on auto. There’s a speed /sensitivity control on the stalk as well.

I find them to be a bit random speed wise even in manual mode!

Yup - that didn't seem to achieve much.

I'll have a look at the sensor - maybe it was obscured.

Does anyone know any good reason why the handbook says not to use a pressure washer on the car?

I can understand not firing it directly into the air intakes but why else is it not a good idea?

Does anyone use one on theirs?

Legal reasons and not wanting to be liable for possible paint damage, I imagine.

I’ve never considered using anything other than a pressure washer, the paint on atelier cars seems like it might be a little thin but not something I’m even remotely worried about.

I've also been told that a pressure washer can break the electronic handbrake mechanism so be gentle around the wheels.

Interesting. I don’t use max pressure into the wheel area anyway but good to know.

Just got my car back from Alpine Cambridge.

It went in because there was water getting in to the engine bay and dripping on to the cover.

They told me it was because I was using a jet wash and it says in the manual that I'm not supposed to.

Hmm I probably should have read the manual! Did they do anything to "repair" it or just say don't do it again?

I use a jet wash on the lowest or middle setting of three, and keep the nozzle a good couple of feet away from the car, not least to avoid catching an edge on the front-end ppf. I was told to avoid using a jet washer on the wheels for a few days after a cosmetic repair.

I asked the question of Tim at Alpine Solihull when I collected my car yesterday (what a machine!) and he thought this was the reason for stating it in the handbook. The seal around the rear glass doesn’t go right to the bottom and water under high pressure will force its way through the seal that is there (not much of a seal then really but I guess enough to prevent rain getting in). He’s had more than one owner contact him to say the engine cover was wet and it turns out a pressure washer was the cause each time. So I’ll be adjusting the variable pressure lance to be less forceful around that area and not use it so close to the car.

Thanks, good to know I didn't just get a "they all do that sir" response

Green A110 spotted on the Lower Luton Road earlier today; anyone we know? My wife waved, then remembered she was in the 'wrong' car...
