Well, that's 5000 miles clocked up -in seven months- driving and I can safely say I've enjoyed every one! The best car I've ever owned, even with the will-it-or-won't-it stop/start, the satnav that took a vow of silence for a few hours and of course the lack of cockpit storage biggrin . I read somewhere that if you don't turn and look back when walking from your car, you're driving the wrong car.; I'm definitely driving the right one!

I've not yet done 4,000 miles in nearly five years, but that's mostly because I shifted to 95% working from home, and I never got the hang of going for a drive "just because". It is just lovely though.

Wow, I did 12,000 kms in just seven months. I don't think I have ever driven that much before, as I always commute on foot, and try to use the MX-5 for short trips within NL. Took the car to the Alps, to Corsica, and Spain. And always looking forward to the next trip already, which may be a weekend in Paris or, once again, the Alps.

This is true. I sometimes find myself walking to the garage to get something I actually do not even really need, just to catch a glimpse of the Alpine.

I'm 18 months and 26k miles in now, but I imagine that'll slow down a little this year, might manage to get to 40k by the end of the year. I'm sure it'll settle into 10k/year average until kids come along at least.

I think your old Evora is still at B&C. I really don't know why it seems so hard to sell green cars.

Having spent the last 10 years in Evoras before I sold the last one just over a year ago I'm just finalising my new Alpine - it's in stock but a 4 week wait for PPF... will be nice to be back in a proper sportscar.

Who are you getting it from? Winchester with PPF from Konings?

Someone was messaging me about my old Evora, but they seemed a little hung up on the tracker situation (it has one fitted, but no fobs/little info on it) and maybe they pulled out. To be fair, not only is it green, it's also an auto, pretty hard sell. A shame really, in some ways it was a magnificent car.

Think I was one of the few people who actually like the auto on the Evora.

I thought the rev match thing when you downshifted was a lot more fun than a PDK snapping straight down.

The Alpine is coming from Orpington Alpine Centre. Winchester were good and my closest dealer. I test drove down there and considered a couple of their cars. In the end though I ended up going new and Orpington had a new car in stock with the right options plus some I wouldn't have specced and it was 2022 pricing - no brainer really.

My 400 was green as well, but the lighter green. Also Auto. Took Hofmann's a couple of months to sell it and in the meantime it had a whole load of trolling on this site (it was a featured car) by people who have clearly never driven an Auto Evora. I think I'll leave it there rather than revisit that nonsense again.

Funny, I have yet to find a single person who has driven an Auto 400/410 and hated it. Granted some will always prefer a manual, which is fine/understandable, but they are great cars.

You can read the nonsense here if you like. I won't revisit it as it is quite frustrating and clearly people not reading the responses.

Yep, I had my issues with the car (seating position, weight, how high the engine revved), but none of them were that large on their own, and tbh may of them were kinda the result of the £100k+ price that Lotus were charging for the GT410s.

I definitely didn't have an issue with the gearbox, it was absolutely fine on it's own (even good!) and really fantastic considering what they started with.

Mostly posted, I reckon, by people who have a poverty/fleet spec 1.4 diesel stbox with a plastic steering wheel, and who enjoy talking about cars much more than they like driving. wink

The way people described it I was expecting it to be some kind of slushbox that I had in my R171 SLK55.

Wasn't the case at all, was actually quick snappy.

Yup. I had them back to back and it isn't as fast or as clean as the Alpine 'box or most later gen PDKs, but it is more than fast enough in an objective sense, and was so much smoother than any DCT I've ever tried at low speed/pulling away.

Anyway, back onto A110 matters. I wonder if it's possible to make a Renault ES9 V6 make proper power and mate it to the gearbox we have? I wonder how the weight compares to the 4cyl. Heavier, I'm sure, but I wonder by how much?

No, it wouldn't be good value for money, in fact it would probably be outrageously bad value. But damn if it wouldn't be cool as hell.

Does anyone follow the L'argus channel on Youtube? Someone has built a 600bhp hybrid 4x4 A110 with sequential gearbox, and he drives it biggrin

Dunno - but Sabelt do a variety of cushions and can probably advise whether they fit their seats.

Anyone else see the launch event for the A290_β? The electric Alpine version of the forthcoming retro Renault 5. Great looking take on it, looks like an updated R5Turbo.
I'm sure it said a 3seater but it wasnt clear if that was a central driving position or a sideways rear just like the option on the old mercedes pagoda 280sl, I'm not sure if that would even be possible these days with current safety regs
