She is less likely to notice how fast you are going in an A110 - I quite often surprize myself when I look down at the speedo.

For a sports car it's so surprising to have the ride comfort and lack of noise that excess speed becomes regularly unexpected - it's almost limo like.

Thinking what price for a one owner mint A110 Premiere UK car with under 1K miles?
Why, are you selling?

There's one with 300 ish miles for sale at a crazy asking price £55K

I was offered a one owner PE with 3k miles last year for £43.500 but I wasn't in the position to have 3 cars at that time so declined. Prices have been on the up since so who knows what price a PE one owner with less than 1K is worth. Guess its what people are willing to pay for one!

You can spec up a pure to a PE spec, it will cost around £56K these days but at least you get 3 years warranty.

Why do people buy these cars? 1K miles & that has to be coming up 3 years old being a PE car. Do they just look at it?

Mine's about two years old, with under 200 miles!

A combination of it arriving faster after ordering than I'd expected, and the new house taking a lot longer to finish than I expected, have meant it's been in storage pretty much the entire time.

On the upside that means I got to have heated seats in a Pure...

Why? To use it wink

12 months old Alpine => 9.000 miles driven! Been to Spa, 2x Nürburgring, Abbeville and on a roadtrip to France.

I think that was his point, no? 1000 miles in a 3 year old car meant that chap wasn't using his. What a waste! You're doing it right!

There are a lot of these owners...I don't get it why they buy sport cars? There are sport car owners who enjoy the cleaning or the thought of ownership more then the actual driving itself. How many Alpine, Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini and even BMW M are there that rarely get driven. I don't get it...what's the point of the purchase, the insurance, the tax. In my opinion; those costs only make sense if you drive the car as much as you can and that is what we do with all our cars wink

Agree 100%.

It really does not do the car any good just to be sat there unused for long periods.

Not sure how much that applies to Alpine owners, but some people have always wanted to own an X, Y or Z and when funds permitted, perhaps as a retirement present they buy one. The key word being OWN. A friend bought an (old) Ferrari even though he has no interest in driving and never used "properly". Probably thinks that you get a heel and toe in a shoe shop.

I suppose some French owners might have bought an Alpine on that basis (though I see no evidence on the FAR site). I doubt the brand has enough kudos in the UK to get many in the UK lusting after it.

Going off on a little bit of a tangent but bare with me.......

I fix boilers & heating systems for a living (or would if I wasn't on strike at the moment B.Gas) The other day I was called to a property with a nice well insulated double garage & there under its fitted cover was the customers toy, a Morgan plus 4.

We had a chat about it and the chap said it gets very little use but he just enjoys the whole ownership experience including the club. What struck me was the garage was warmer than the lounge in my house!! A huge double panel radiator to keep his baby warm.

Don’t forget some owners will run a few cars and there’s not always enough time to run everything.
Some years I’ve put thousands of miles on things and then in the past few years I’ve only put a few hundred miles on certain cars regardless of covid. The fact that coincided with the arrival of the Alpine has nothing to do with it of course!!

Sadly, I will never be in the position to own several special cars. Hence that's why my Caterham has high mileage and might be difficult to sell when I want to raise funds towards an Alpine.

Whether a car is your sole transport or part of a fleet makes an enormous difference to whether it makes "sense" to purchase a car. If I was in the fortunate position of (say) Harry Metcalf I could make a case for a lot of cars - but most of us are constrained by budget, space or the OH to a greater or lesser degree,

Well, mine's finally coming home from storage next week, after which I intend to put as many miles on it as the current guidelines permit.

Regretably, I suspect it will be going to work (if you are allowed) or going to the supermarket.

There are no guidelines, just the law. Work and going to the supermarket is about your lot at the moment unfortunately

Interesting press release this morning about Alpine and Lotus signing a memorandum of understanding to conduct "a comprehensive feasibility study for the joint engineering, design and development of an EV sportscar by leveraging the resources, expertise and facilities of the respective entities”
