With sports exhaust you also get a "sound pipe" which feeds induction noises into the cabin. Makes gobble gobble noises that sound vaguelly like 40 DCOE carbs of yesteryear. Only intrudes under acceleration and goes quiet at a cruise.
I think the Sports exhaust and engine modes are very well judged: it does make a good noise in Sport, but not raucously anti-social, and in standard mode the whole thing is remarkably civilised (not much less so than my Jag XK). I’m well impressed...

Just ordered a set of Life110 gearchange paddles smile
Be interested to hear how you get on with those, they look like really nicely made.

David fitted a set to my car earlier today along with another owners S. They are excellent. Clearly a lot of thought has gone into their development and they feel much nicer and more tactile than the OEM paddles.

Awesome.

I figured it would be best to get them early - before getting too used to the position of the standard ones...

(That was my excuse anyhow wink )

Personally don't feel the need for longer paddles. I would prefer longer paddles if I tracked the car much, but I'm a religious 10 to 2 shuffler on the road so the current paddles are fine in size for me.

However I find your remark that the Life110 paddles are more tactile as attractive. Can you elaborate a little?

They sit closer to the wheel and have been designed with a small lip on the back edge which gives a much nicer feel. The finish is also excellent.

Getting excited about my GT coming soon. On the Alpine app it say i can 'Track your order'. But nothing has happened and nothing has changed. Does it update?

He he, bit close innit? In fairness to them that was designed in 2016 (but then the A110 Vision concept was doing the rounds then, no?) and is supposed to ape the 550 Carrera Panamerica Coupes, which did have driving lamps in a similar place. Think it's cropping up now as they're talking about a production run. Porsche will *always* have customers for *anything*, after all...

The 904 Living Legend concept was stunning - ashamed to say I'd cancel my Alpine order for one of those... nono

It doesn't, no - think once you're past the deposit stage there's nothing automated about it, and you just speak to your dealer contact.

Would be nice if it did show you all the relevant dates, wouldn't it? As it is, the best thing on the app are the 'Tourist Guides' added by the dealerships in the south of France. Excellent daydreaming material...

I agree, the app is a missed opportunity - it isn’t really of any use and just updates with Alpine press releases - sometimes long after the info is in the PD.
It would have been useful to have sent all recalls via the app as well as post as my recall letters were weeks after others here. Car remains great, however!

3.5 years into a 7 year production timeline, is it likely Alpine will indulge in any mid-life update of the A110 this year or next? Even if it's simply adopting a fresher infotainment system as everything else is already so well judged. Or are the various GT and Atelier additions their alternative to keeping things fresh?

Quick update on my leaky boot. Winchester had the car for a few days last week and reported that the water ingress was coming from the seal behind the nearside rear wheel arch liner. They replaced the seal and at the same time refitted the rear window seal which was coming adrift.
After the last couple of rainy days the boot is still nice and dry so hopefully solved, great service from Winchester and I quite enjoyed putting a few hundred miles on their new Clio loaner. Clio’s are now a big car compared to my old 197 & 200 Cup’s, felt more Mk1 Focus size and no longer a super mini.
Anyway I’ll be holding fire refitting the boot trim / carpet for a few weeks to make sure there is no reoccurrence.
In the mean time it’s new tyre time, getting near the wear indicators and definitely feel like they’ve ‘gone off’ in the last 1000 miles or so. Any suggestions or stick with another set of the same Michelin’s?

I'd planned on a brief trundle on Sunday but the battery was flat again - fully charged it two/three weeks ago.

I've therefore ordered one of the CTEK chargers with the eyelet connector cable that can be permanently left attached so I don't have to keep popping the plastic trim off, and then I can leave the car on trickle whenever it's in the garage.

This may be a silly question, but I'm aware that car batteries can be very ouchy if you poke them wrong. What is the correct approach to connecting the eyelets to the battery terminals?

There are a couple of small nuts one the connectors, undid one at a time and popped the eyelets on and replaced the nuts.

Car worked normally, didn't have to reset anything afterwards. Pretty straightforward.

I agonised over this when ordering last year - the rumours of factory closure and below target sales didn't suggest the cash was about to undertake anything huge (and as you say, it's well judged). The Atelier/colour edition stuff is (for my money) quite a shrewd way of offering annual updates without undertaking significant development activities. There's no obvious requirement to update the interior (maybe refreshed graphics on the dials?) or exterior (new wheel styles perhaps?), and they'd hardly be likely to re-tool anything to make the boot significantly larger...

The elephant in the room remains that infotainment. Sure, it's a driver's car, but if on March 1st Alpine announces that they're launching a proper carplay system and increasing the screen size to match the existing 'real estate', just as mine rolls off the line, I'll be spitting laugh

I think one of the first updates should be to provide more interior storage. That should be relatively easy. But making the boot larger? That seems very difficult and would surely entail lengthening the car. As it happens I think that a longer tail would be aesthetically a good thing, but I can't see it being a cheap development.

The best thing to generate more sales would a targa top, but that would also be expensive to do.
