Hi all, weather forecast for the morning is heavy rain so I suggest we postpone meeting up to a Sunday in April. I will check weather and put up a new date.

I know a nice run which lasts about an hour starting between Haverhill and Bury St Edmunds. There is a cafe there we we could meet, do the run and then finish back at the cafe for coffee etc

My wife and I had breakfast there very early on a Saturday a couple of weeks ago. If you want an early meet with empty roads Cafe 33 would be a good choice. If you are planning to go early and need the cafe open call to confirm the time a few days ahead: Advertised opening times vary across their different media - it’s a relatively informal business - but she will open for you if she knows you’re coming.

I have a 1978 Alpine A310 with 1976 Group 5 style engine mods. It’s new to me and I’m working it up after very light use for the last 20 years. Once it’s running well and I’m up to speed I’d love to join you.

Cheers for that Sass. Would love to see your 78 Alpine once you have her fettled.

I think plan would be to meet at the cafe 7am, do the run which is Clare, Sible Hedingham, Finchingfield , Steeple Bumstead and back to cafe for breakfast/coffee

Cheers

Hi Guys

Just to let you know that Krazy Horse in Bury St Edmunds are having a Morgan open day this Saturday 1st April with cars available for testing. Just in case you want to add a Morgan (or Caterham) to your flock. I'm planning to test the Super 3 for a laugh and will take the A110 along...

Details - https://mailchi.mp/b378adc36546/morgandemoday

Best wishes, Rowland

Looking at dates for us to meet and do a run, who is up for Easter Sunday, subject to weather? Thinking 7am at the cafe, hour run, back to cafe for drink and cheeky bacon roll then home in time for Easter eggs lol

I trust that the details given for the Super 3 are incorrect - Inline 6 with 335bhp and 166mph... Gulp! No wonder Freddie got into trouble!

Hi all,

A non-Alpine owner in the East Anglia area here, currently on the hunt for an A110/Cayman GTS/M2 Comp as a weekend car. Planning on taking an A110 out for a test drive this weekend and would love your views on things to watch out for both good and bad as I assess it.

Really appealing cars and it's great to find this as I relish the idea of joining up with you all for runs out to various places like the Cambridge F1 event, Morgan test, cafe & drives, etc! Looking for a bit of community with whatever I get.

All the best for any upcoming runs and it'd be great to get some viewpoints from local folks!

Hi Matt

Welcome and enjoy your test drive. Funnily enough my previous car was a manual M2 Competition and I had a Cayman S in 2007. M2 a great car, very quick and still practical. Would I swap my Alpine back for an M2 or a Cayman? No way. The Alpine is a very different car to drive because of the lightness and feel. You'll know within 5 minutes of driving it. Nothing else like except perhaps a Lotus Elise/Exige but the Alpine is more roomy and better made.

Have fun!

Thanks Stu, looking forward to it! Very interesting about the M2/Cayman S comparison also. I'm surprised to read that it is as different of an experience to a Cayman, which I'd have assumed (Lotus aside which I'm excluding as I don't have a garage and wouldn't trust one in the elements) to be the closest comparator!

I've owned an M135i in the past which while of course a different kettle of fish to the M2 still had that straight six/paddles powertrain which was a lovely box to tick, and I have wondered whether the M2 would be slightly too similar to that experience. Ultimately it's boiling down to A110 vs. Cayman at this stage...

The Cayman is a nice car, well built and the internal finish is top class. It does however weigh 350kg more than the A110 so it needs more power, bigger tyres and stiffer suspension to deal with the equivalent of a grand piano on top of an Alpine. It's the lightness and ride quality with fun factor of the Alpine that convinced me. You'll know when you drive it...
