I personally think it is cheap at the RRP. Mine will never be sold.

Absolutely not. That’s a fubar snafu clusterf**k and how the heck it got past qc wherever it was done only the crazy clown that spot “repaired” it knows!

It might be possible to just strip the bumper off, side indicator out, headlamp out, and then flat the wing back, basecoat the top section and then clear over the lot. That’s the best case scenario and I would wager you’ll not get it right.

So the door card will have to come off, mirror, side window trims and door handle. Then paint base on the whole wing, blend into the bumper and the door, and then re clear the door, wing and bumper. That’s the worst case scenario.

And of course, you’ll be wanting a) the right paint thickness, b) a factory look to the clear, and c) an intelligent and careful strip down and rebuild with no broken clips, chewed trim etc. in my extensive experience with this stuff, a) almost no chance, b) almost no chance and c) almost no chance.

There will of course be dissent to my post from “people who have used xyz bodyshop successfully” but whilst that might be ok on a normal road car I would not buy a super special car like this and then hand it over to that industry. People do exist who can do it, but Renault won’t be paying to use them and they won’t give you enough money off so that you can, because 9/10 owners wouldn’t notice the subsequent repair is actually rubbish.
Julian. You have put into words exactly the concerns that I had which led to my decision to reject this car. I know from bitter experience earlier this year with a brand new GR Yaris that a car can never be repaired to the original standard that it should have been in when it left the factory. It is not just about how much you throw at the repair. There are no repairers, no matter how good they are, that can replicate the exact paint process to make all the panels match, as per factory. That's before you start dealing with the issues of residual damage to trim, clips, rattles, overspray and the smell of cellulose! I wasn't prepared to even start that journey, knowing that it would end in failure.

heart breaking to read. Such a cool car, such a long wait, and having sold a TDC to make space for the R... i would be bouncing off the walls. How about getting in another flavor of Alpine?

There are still a couple of SR 1973's in the network that you probably get with some form of discount.

that's good going. there are very few Rs allocated to the UK. As one of the first people putting money down in 2022, it took 18 months for the car to reach me. Maybe because i didn't pay for the matt blue paint but it will be much rarer than a Gt3RS. Too bad i intend to use it rather than store it tongue out

Dilemma time,
Cancelled my A110R in august, dealer kept it on order to sell on themselves ,
Have cleared finance on my Legende which I have owned since 2020 ( new)
Currently have the dealer ‘pursuing’ me to see if I want my original order , which is obvs the car that fits my spec as I ordered it, I also have 4 other a110R’s being offered to me , no discounts yet, but clearly not selling, ECOTY sings it’s praises very highly,

I’d dearly love to go ahead , however
I have a car that’s paid for sat in my garage with 15,000 miles on the clock , owned from new so I know it well.
If I swap to the R it’s going to cost me my car plus 50k (financed) , I could do an awful lot to mine for half the difference (25k) I’m struggling to make the maths work to purchase the R
Can someone convince me the R is worth the 50k to change ?
Only you can make that decision, but factoring in £50k finance costs to swap I’d say absolutely not worth it. The R is a very cool looking thing but aesthetic aside it’s not that expensive to change the handing characteristics of the base car to get close to if not better than the R. Also appreciate ‘aftermarket’ is not for everybody but let’s face it we are pretty lucky in Alpine world with experienced guys like Life110 investing their time into the product. For less than a tenth of the cost you could do springs, high quality dampers, ARB’s and geo and probably get a focus that would be very similar to the R.

( appreciate replicating the unsprung mass benefits of those wheel would be difficult and very expensive !! )

If circumstances were adding an R to an existing fleet of exotica then god yes why wouldn’t you smile

Thanks Gavin at Alpine Orpington. The jury is still out there on seat lowering as I think I might prefer the low setting on the R buckets but the car is fantastic and thanks for the fantastic service.

I haven't driven an R, but if I were you I'd freshen things up with some Life110 mods then wait another couple of years for the R to come down in price and then go for it if you still feel you want one.

Quite surprised at that if I'm honest but hopefully there is a set of lightly used R53 dampers now going cheap!

Me too. But I really like the spec.

With all the black carbon bits I think it looks good in black, white or really brash colours.

I’m only going off insta but looks like he’s keeping both, to have the perfect road spec + a track spec car smile

Can’t knock that can you !! Lucky guy

Yes, the area circled.

Gutting but atleast you spotted it before the money had exchanged hands. Imagine how receptive they would have been after you'd paid.

I can also tell you that if you ordered when it first came out and chose black, you could have got it for £89,900

I'm not really a fan of black cars, despite owning one, and much prefer the A110 in brighter colours. But an A110R in black looks mega, probably my favourite

I want someone to order a black one with gold callipers, then order from the parts department the gold legende GT badges.

I think that would look so cool
