The thing with the new cars from what I can see is that they’re all priced around the £60k mark (on Autotrader at least) - so even if you’re getting their lower APR rate of 0-2.9%, it looks like they’re just offsetting this “saving” against a higher purchase price?
That is unless people are negotiating £5-£10k discounts at the till.
In theory the 0%/2.9% PCP deal ended at the end of March so you may have missed out anyway. That is unless people are negotiating £5-£10k discounts at the till.
When I was looking, as someone who was always going to have to use finance, it made more sense to buy a new in stock GT at 0% APR than pay 10%+ on a used one. In my case the dealer offered over £5k off list bringing a well specced new GT down to just over £60k.
There were similar offers bringing the standard model down to just over £50k but not sure if they are still available.
Nick,
That car is more or less identical to mine.
I bought mine new for £55k last April and have now done just over 6,000 miles in it.
With mine being new it does have the upgraded audio (with car play), it also has the mirror pack, blue stitching, aluminium pedals, floor mats and parking sensors. Its a superb car and Abyss Blue is a great colour. The only thing missing from a spec point of view was the Alpine 'A' logos on the front wings but £108 later and I now have those thanks to the dealers parts department.
Its pretty scary that the car you are looking at is only £42k I was hoping the depreciation would be a bit slower on an A110.
Personally I bought my car thinking the 17" wheels would need to go in favour of a set of 18's but to be honest I actually really like the smaller wheels. Aesthetically they might not look as good (it would be a set of EVO Corse for me if budget was no option) but having driven a variety of A110's with different size wheels I am happy with the handling and ride on the 17's.
I am not planning on any mods or tweaks going forward. Really early on I added a set of Life A110 paddles, had the Geo done and changed the air filter to a Life A110 (which is great and gives a decent increase in induction noise). I would advise you to consider all of these as I believe they fundamentally transform the car.
Good luck in your search.
Regards
Tim

Not sure why there's so much negativity on the 17s and smaller brakes. It rides better and the 17s are lighter (even than the fuchs). If you want to track it, get decent pads, high temp fluid and consider Tarox discs (I found otherwise I was killing a set of discs most track days - although the smaller discs are cheap to replace so not the issue you might think). 17s and a dozen+ track days here. Biggest limitation is there aren't so many tyre choices in 17 vs 18, but the OE PS4 or Eagle F1 work well.

Ha! Good point. I’ve only ever done the one track day in a 993 I had once. Good fun but not for me.autofocus said:

Tim, can you elaborate a bit more on what changed by adding the Life110 air filter please? Any performance impact or simply just noiser in the cabin? And also with the Geo change - what key differences did / do you feel c.f. the standard set-up? I'm considering these two options but still on the fence ref: the extended paddles. Not sure I really need them as I'm usually in auto mode most of the time. Thanks.M.

I had the life 110 geo done and it settles the car a lot and makes it a lot less sensitive to side winds on motorway. Wheels are now largely point forward now rather than some of the crazy factory toe out. Makes the car feel more planted in all conditions, more neutral, less 'puppy dog' jumping all over the place on your average British countryside lane. M.

Hi M,M.
Ok so I collected the car from the dealer about 90 miles from home and on the drive back (most of it on the motorway) I did think the car was a little unstable which was at odds with the road tests/reviews I had read. I got home, adjusted the tyre pressures (which were quite a bit wrong) and hoped that might have caused the issue. A few more drives and the car still didn't seem happy particularly on motorways and in crosswinds.
Reading up on this on forums etc I took the plunge to get Spires to do the Geo to see if it fixed the issue. 4500 miles later I can confirm it definitely has, the car is very different now and doesn't wander on motorways and seems more stable in cross winds. The cost (around £150) is really reasonable so certainly worth it in my eyes.
In terms of the air filter, the standard one is paper, paper filters degrade over their life and therefore there will be a performance drop. The LifeA110 (and indeed other permanent filters) are easier to service and the degrading is less noticeable. I am not sure if there is a power increase, but probably less of a drop over time.
Hope that helps
Regards
Tim

I’ve just fitted the Life110 air filter and had the standard road Life110 geo applied last week. The air filter gives much more turbo-y noises. Lots more intake and wastegate noise. For me it gives a nice flavour for enjoying driving the car without putting it in sports mode which feels a bit obnoxious if my partner is with me in the car. M.
The geometry, for me, added much more weight off centre for the steering, and made the car feel much more settled at a 70mph cruise on the motorway. I hadn’t appreciated quite how vague yet busy the car felt until I drove home with the new geometry
I believe my car may have had the Life110 geo applied by the previous owner, but it was miles out when it was checked, and the steering wasn’t true either so overall it was a big upgrade!

Delighted to report I placed a deposit on the Alpine A110 Pure at the start of this thread.
I did consider the GT also mentioned in this thread which was a step up price wise, as well as a leggier 2021 S but in the end, the understated nature of the base model in the Abyss blue with the 17s really appealed to me and the type of driving I’ll be doing in it - a daily commute!
Hoping to collect next week. Thanks once again for everyone’s advice and input.
