Hi there,

Spent a few days working through my images from the 2022 Donington Historic Festival.
Whilst the racing programme was not the biggest when compared to some of the other historic events (Silverstone Classic) etc, the prospect of seeing Group C cars racing at my local track was one not to be missed especially when the entry list included Silk Cut Jaguars.

Here are a few snippets and links to the two galleries, one from the paddock and one from on track

Wow Norfolk Lotus Club might need to re-assess their membership criteria

Strange exhaust set up for a static event

Beautiful Aventador Muira edition

Lovely line up of old Healey's

Mega valuable Original C Type ready for action

Almost priceless Aston Martin DB3/S Coupe

Immaculate Audi 80 in the car park

You just know this isn't going to end well

There are no words......stunning !

Touring Car driver Rob Huff was certainly on it in the GTP Spice

Still stunning !

This Lola sounded superb

Light made this shot tricky but still happy I got them together.

Lotus Cortina's were fun skipping........

and drifting around the track

Lovely to see a Spitfire over the track for the flypast

Hope you like them

Regards

Nice photos, I was there too but I've been finding Donington increasingly frustrating to get on-track photos on. The sun gets so harsh with no shading and my sharpness/contrast takes a huge hit trying to shoot through the fences (along with heat haze). My "local" track is Oulton and I'm lucky there isn't many fences there (but no Group C!).

Hi,

Yes its a tricky circuit and the fences do make getting a variety of shots tricky. You can get loads of panning shots at Donington but they get boring after a while. Also the international circuit does limit the options a fair bit.

All the shots in my gallery were from the public areas, thankfully my 100-400 lens does tend to work well at losing fences.

Tim

Great pictures, I remember going to see the Group C cars in period, the Jaguar and Mercedes were spectacular, we had a box in the Craner Suites proper exciting for a young me!
