Which PH'ers have placed a deposit on an Emira?
Discussion
Yes I agree with Gibbo and tend to think there will be further delays as per other manufacturers with supply chain issues I was quoted late Sept for initial delivery which would probably translate to a Christmas car in reality which is why I have deferred to a Spring 2023 delivery.
Wonder when the first official road tests of the V6 will be.

Just received email saying my emira will be completed in August, i assume that then it needs to be shipped, so September delivery probably...
My email is a but more specific ..As you’ll be aware from our previous communication, your new Emira specification is now fixed in our production system and scheduled to be completed in June 2022. Therefore, we are pleased to inform you that your new Emira will be ready for handover in July 2022. Ahead of this, we will be in contact to arrange the delivery and handover with you. We appreciate this is later than originally predicted, so please accept our sincere apologies for the slight delay.
So really should get it July assuming no more delays.

I did the factory tour this week. Because I was the only person who also booked the classic Lotus tour, I had a one on one tour for both parts which was nice. This meant I could chat quite a lot. Wonder when the first official road tests of the V6 will be.
I specifically asked if production was going to be affected by the semiconductor shortage. He told me no, it wasn’t actually a problem for them. He said because production is already behind, they ordered stuff quite a while ago and they are stocked up on parts and their low volume means they can basically get all they need.
He had no reason to lie to me, as if anything it takes away an excuse for Lotus.
As an engineer myself, what I saw gave me a decent level of confidence that the quality control is going to be pretty good.
I say this as somebody who isn’t intending to buy an Emira, so I have no horse in the race.

Paul, good to meet you (at the gates!) on Wednesday - you have a lovely Exige.Wish I had recorded the i4 engine note of that mule that passed us, through the gates....
Did the tour help you make any decisions with regards to your spec?

Likewise, it was nice meeting you and chatting about cars in the sun while we were waiting.

Yes, the red was as good as I had hoped (and the Nimbus looked very good, too). Only concern was the satin silver wheels which looked nothing special, as against the (delicate) diamond cut version. I placed a deposit in November 2021, basically as it looked like an amazing car, and thought I'd treat myself.
Now I'm starting to doubt how much use I'm actually going to get out of it. This would be a 2nd and fun car for me.
This has got me thinking about spec and resale value, if I decide to sell soon after delivery.
My heart says V6 manual, but not overly fussed. Not sure about first edition or not.
What would be your spec if there was a chance of selling on after a few months?

Hi there
BOBT just gave an Emira away:
That is the car I sat in a couple of weeks ago, the exhaust revs are with the car in its default mode, so valve closed and hence why you can hear the SC whine.
In the other modes the exhaust valve opens and it sounds very good then, Christian unfortunately did not realise whilst filming this and as such left it in the standard mode.

Had the call yesterday to say mine is a month delayed, so has gone September to August to September again.
Given that I've also got until the end of today to make any config changes without it affecting delivery, I'm back to head scratching again...
Currently:
Nimbus
Black Alcantara with red stitching
Alcantara wheel
Silver wheels
Touring suspension
Red calipers
Black pack
No pimp tints

Just had the same email. Which is interesting as when I did the "tour" in october '21 they were still quoting spring '22 as a delivery date. When the news of the delays leaked on various forums I got in contact directly and was eventually told november (by which I assumed december) '22. I wasn't happy about this but at least I had some idea it might be delivered in the same year as the initial promise. Now I'm told spring '23 whatever the hell that means (june I expect). For a deposit placed in august '21 (V6, manual in case that's of interest). At this point it's potentially worth mentioning that I only really got wind of the car after I got hacked off with the lead time on a C8 'vette which, irony of ironies would probably have arrived before this had I placed the order at the same time.
I really wanted this as a last ICE car, to be my keeper until they make it illegal to drive. At this rate I'm both uncertain that it'll ever arrive or that the car can ever live up to the weight of expectation put upon it given the ever increasing delays to fruition (and lotus's never ending ability to screw up communications). This isn't TVR levels of "will be irrelevant if it ever arrives" as I'm pretty sure a car will actually be made as there is an actual factory, but it's not going to be the dream I bought into last year and I strongly suspect not at the price I bought into either.

I just received this one, which I am confused about as I have not received a configuration link or had a call to configure (and pay the extra deposit) for the car yet?
Dear Me
As part of being a Lotus Emira priority customer we are keen to update you on the progress of your new Lotus Emira.
Unfortunately, shortages across the automotive industry have led to some delays in production, but we are happy to inform you that your new Emira is now scheduled to be completed in November 2022. We estimate the handover of your Emira will be in December. We appreciate this is later than originally predicted, so please accept our sincere apologies for the slight delay.
As your Emira nears end of production we will be providing more information regarding financial services, trade-in and insurance products that you may be interested in, as well as arranging the delivery and handover with you. Following that, approximately two weeks prior to handover we will be in touch to complete the checkout process.
If you have yet to submit your Emira configuration and payment can we please ask you do this before the end of June. If you have already submitted your personalised specification and you’re happy with your selection, you don’t need to do anything. However, if you’d like to make changes, you can do so using your personalised specification link until the end of June. If you require a copy of your link please call Lotus Customer Care. Your specification will then be locked into our production schedule on the 1st July, at which point no further changes can be made.
We know you have been waiting and are excited to receive your new Emira, but please be assured that it will be everything you’d expect and more from a Lotus car.
Yours sincerely,
Lotus Cars
