I think no Emiras are actually available to order. All you can do is place a queue holding deposit and configure FEs.

If you've not placed a deposit already, it might be wise to do so and get in the queue.

Base cars should be configurable later this year or start of next year and then expect to wait around 12-18 months for delivery. If you place a £4000 deposit now you may then speed up delivery time once you can configure the car.

Remember once these hit the roads, once the TV review on Top Gear airs and the cars are seen in the wild Lotus will no doubt get another surge of orders from UK and the global demand will increase dramatically potentially, so wait times could be rather lengthy for anyone buying one in the next 12-18 months.

You can order them now, but you'll be a long way back in the queue

I asked Lotus in April as to when they would need my 2nd deposit and was told this:

"Configuration for the base edition will most likely open towards the end of this year or start of 2023, as the base edition is not available until 2023."

Is there an embargo on journalist reviews? When would it be lifted?

I’ve been stalling lotus re delivery date for mine as I haven’t made up my mind. Maybe I should accept a date and flip the car if I decide it’s not for me?

Good news D look forward to your thoughts on the car.

I've deferred mine until next Spring still undecided between FE V6 or I4.

Thanks,
I hope its going to be good to drive, the one thing that I have a concern about is the seat height if its to high it just kills the experience for me. I was assured that the actual customer cars will have a lower seating position than the cars that did the dealer rounds last year. I went for V6 with a Stick and the Track bias set up with Cup 2s.

Thanks all. Do we know if there will be any measurable difference between a FE and a base car? Price will obviously be a bit lower but do we know anything else? I'm going to grab a Verdant over tan V6 manual so as long as that spec is available for the base I'll probably wait for that, or see what the secondary market does

Its unclear as to what extras will be available to spec on base cars but reckon they will be fairly basic which may be no bad thing. If you spec a base car anywhere up to an FE level of equipment if at all possible it will clearly be alot more expensive than the FE. Having said that there is much stuff on the FE packs that is not really needed imo.

Reckon on black and white colours will also being introduced for the base models.

Yeah I don't think it's a bad thing at all, I'd want a fair basic V6 manual car in Verdant, smaller wheels if possible as well. I'll wait to see when the configurator is available and then put an order in then

I was all set on Verdant until I saw it in the flesh, it's basically black.

Only in blindingly bright sunlight does a hint of green come out.

I decided to think again....

Agree the Verdant is a touch dull for a car like the Emira.

But each to their own there was a guy I was chatting to at the launch who thought it was the dogs danglies and ordered Verdant with tan which would be the last combo I would have gone for.

Good job we are all different.

Interesting question as demand new never equals demand used.

The most popular colour new in the UK will doubtless be the Seneca blue in fact I am fairly sure I will order it with yellow ancilliaries. But because there will be quite a few of these this may result in it being less popular used rather like the Kermit green on 991.2 GT3RS. Colours similar to the blue are either £2.5k (Shark etc) or PTS premium (Maritime Riviera etc) on Porsche GTs so the fixed price for similar Seneca on the Lotus is a bargain if you like it.

My second choice would be the red metallic which could be the better bet it will be less popular new but because there will be fewer cars in this colour it will inevitably be rarer used. Trouble is my GT4 is red (Guards non metallic) and whilst I like it everything tends to be red too in terms of ancilliaries i.e. red stitching red brake calipers etc etc.

Third choice would be the grey or even silver both of which will go well with the yellow stitching but as colours these are both a bit dull imo for this car.

No wrong choice though the Emira looks good in any colour (apart from white and I like white cars!).

As ever best choice is simply spec what you like.

Placed my deposit this afternoon, basically to get in ahead of the rush when the cars actually start to get delivered, seen and driven.
Local dealer expects to get a demo car by the end of June.
Quite happy with delivery in 2023 as it's a retirement present to myself, admittedly a couple of years early but what the hell, you only live once.
No idea yet on colour and spec although it's probably between blue, red or nimbus grey, will almost certainly go for the base model 2 ltr turbo,.
Now need to persuade my other half that her aged Celica really doesn't need garage space.
Quite excited!

Deposit placed ...

Nimbus or magma? Can't decide.

Does anyone have any insight on touring chassis Vs sport? I know it's difficult to predict, but perhaps based on people's experiences with Evora ride quality. Really interested to hear anyone's opinion. I have never driven a lotus...

Harry’s video here is about as near as you can get right now, he’s on track in a “sport” spec car.

https://youtu.be/TX-n-KK50cE

Or wait 2 weeks for the embargo to lift on the press reviews - not long now, lifts on 7th June
