Which PH'ers have placed a deposit on an Emira?

What would you require it to be in order to avoid such faint praise?
That's a really good question and probably the problem for lotus. It's a car for the driver and it should take your breath away the first time you drive it. It may do this, but I really doubt it. If you look at the Evora, the thing that got people raving about it in the 400 onwards reviews was the exhaust sound. Fluid handling but wow the noise. The Elise was a revolution for the driver when it happened. The Emira will be a bit me too!PorkInsider said:

The embargo on reviews is lifted in less than 24hrs.
Harry's Garage will be the first one I watch...
Wonder what it will show on the scales? I'm going for 1510kgHarry's Garage will be the first one I watch...
Edmunds appear to have jumped the gun, posting this at midnight

I will happily trade a few hundred extra kilos in exchange for superb chassis rigidity, some 20th century cabin tech, some sound deadening to actually allow the car to be useable on a 1500 mile road trip, and top notch crash worthiness.
Its a Cayman competitor not an Elise. And the sales figures will reflect that because there are 40 Caymans out there for every Lotus. Ignoring the market to insist on making ultra light sports cars was not profitable and I am glad they have stopped flogging that dead horse. Porsche is a 4*4 manufacturer nowadays with a small legacy sports car division.
Roll on the reviews.

Mixed bag of reviews so far.....
Harry Metcalfe loves it!
Autocar liked it...
Evo didn't like it!
But I think the EVO test was compromised - Sport suspension with Goodyear tyres and the test carried out on a circuit, hardly the best set up without the Cup 2 tyres. The other two tests i've watched were both on the road (touring suspension with Goodyear on one and Sport suspension with Cup 2 on the other car) so again not really comparing the same set-ups.
I've gone with Sport suspension and Cup 2 tyres and see no reason to change.

Evo, Auto Car, Harry's Garage and Auto Trader have all put reviews up on YouTube. That's my train journey home sorted!
Harry was very positive except about the Sport suspension. To me it looked uncomfortably wide on the roads Harry took it on with the mirror brushing the hedge on occasion. He had an LHD car, I'm not sure I'd drive it that close in a RHD one.Other reviews were more mixed. The interior was universally declared a success, but the gearchange and pedal position got a lot of criticism and the brakes were squishy making H&T changes rather difficult. The Evo review (track only) was very negative. Not full production spec cars, and I had no problems with the gearchange or brakes on the Evora I drove, so maybe there will be improvements on production cars.
Unquestionably more kerb appeal than the Evora , but a more engaging driver's car? I'm not convinced yet.

You do surprise me BCR. Worth mentioning apart from the ad revenue was that Jethro was testing the car on road tyres.Anyone seen the Catchpole review yet? I couldn't see it on their site.

Not the first complaint about the gearchange. I wonder if the i4 with the auto box is the way to go in that case? It was the car I was originally going to get as I didn't realise they would release a base edition V6... Other reviews were more mixed. Interesting review from Harrys garage especially concerning him favouring the touring suspension setup.
Reckon the sport suspension with Goodyears could be the best option though. Best of both.
Overall he liked the car although he has a 3.5 FE on order.
Jethro Bovingdons Evo review was quite negative overall especially regarding the front suspension poor gearchange and uninspiring engine. His review was a bit harsh perhaps imo. Also claimed it was £79110 basic maybe there has been a price increase. The other review also claimed the red Touring pack car was £81k so maybe Lotus has in fact raised prices.

Interestingly, the text article accompanying the Evo review is far less harsh.

Will be interesting to see what Catchpole makes of it.

Sounds correct to me £75,995 plus on the road costs including the latest VED increases announced in the last budget - £79110.Reckon the sport suspension with Goodyears could be the best option though. Best of both.

Owning left hand drive cars in the UK, that is how you drive them, you hug the curb that way you just know your truly on your side. It is quite wide but it is not silly wide like say a an Avantador, think its no wider than an new 5 series BMW.Other reviews were more mixed. The magazine features a road test (by Henry Catchpole), albeit of exactly the same car. BertBert said:
It'll be muted. Everyone will want to say it's brilliant, but apart from looking fab, it's really just like the the Evora of old. Great chassis and steering, but just a bit underwhelming with a nicer interior and some pretend tech toys.
Not surei predicted exactly right, but got it pretty good Shame as I really want the Emira to be fabulous. Glad I have moved my deposit to the i4. If nothing else I'll be able to test drive the v6 and see what people think of the production car.
Overall I'm unimpressed.
