You can't feel power, you can only feel torque. F=MA and all that
You can't feel either of them. What you feel is the change in velocity that the force produces. And anyway it's semantics, given horsepower is a calculated figure based on torque at a certain engine speed. You can get the same figure by reducing one and increasing the other.

someone must have had one on a rolling road by now, surely?
yes they have Bert, see here... https://www.emiraforum.com/threads/v6-fe-dyno-resu...
Interesting thread. Didn't make much on the Litchfield Dyno, which seems to be closer to everyone's opinion.

400hp should be pretty spritely. I always said this would be perfect with 500, but 400 shouldn't be slow. Whilst great handling is important, sports cars still need a bit of straight line exhilaration.

While 388 on the Litchfield dyno isn't great - neither is it that bad given it was on 97 octane fuel - well within the DIN 5% tolerance.

I thought my Evora felt similarly flat.

On the 6th of July I got a good news email to say my i4 was going into build in August. Two months later and today's email says it is going into build in October. Might be ready for delivery in the spring at this rate!

ETA: I thought I'd try the Lotus CS chat to see the score re test drives. They know nothing. Completely useless! Asked what they can help with and he said they can help with order updates and the order process. I asked when it was going to be delivered. He said built this month, and delivered Oct or Nov.

Laughable!

The dealers don't know either... I've been promised availability I think every month for the past year and still nothing... it's hopeless.

I just received this email -

Clowns!

Maybe the Emira deliveries and comms are all cocked up as they have been spending all their resources developing and testing their time machine?

I think a lot of people thought this car could be flipped for profit.

Yes indeed. We know differently now and probably could have seen that back then. It always felt unlikely to me that their would be any amount of overs market.

Which is a stupid reason to buy one. Its not a Porsche or Ferrari limited edition. Probably safer to put the £15k you are likely to lose in the first couple of years into premium bonds and buy a used 2 year old one for £65k. Both ways you end up with a 2 year old car worth £65k. One has cost you £80k the other £65k

If you are buying to enjoy the car, then that's totally different the cost of £15k is easily justifiable. Expecting overs is a mugs game.

Well we can say that now, however there was a certain used car sales man telling us all how it was a 100k car. Suffice to say said person now has his deposit back! hehe

69k now makes all the others look well over priced. So many recalls for a new car!

Speaking of recalls... Since I had recall work done on 1st September, my Emira has decided it only wants to start about two times out of three attempts. The electrics all wake up and the air conditioning immediately starts blowing hard, but the starter motor doesn't engage unless I lock the whole thing up then unlock it and try a few times until it starts. I tried contacting B&C service three times over the last two weeks but it always goes to answerphone and they never call me back. If I had more time to waste I'd try leaving messages more often.

Anyone else having the same problem since the recall and software update?

Strueth! My 22 year old Ferrari is better than that. Never had that sort of issue with either of the Evoras.

There was the Evora issue where it went into limp mode. Most commonly caused by the faulty switch on the brake pedal. Took 3 visits to B&C service for me to get it fixed as it ended up being some dodge wiring somewhere in the ABS electronics. I didn't find the B&C service comms all that good. There was only one Lotus service advisor type guy (and probably only one McL one as well). That was before Lotus stopped production of all the legacy models, so I can't imaging it's got a higher staffing level now biggrin

Shocking sounds like Chinese software not well developed? Just like customer service ? Can see these tanking in second hand market nobody will want them out of warranty.

Noticed that the number of Emira for sale on auto trader has dropped to 52 today I guess this signals an end to the flipping and possibly nearing completion of the UK production for the initial orders for V6 cars. Low 70s could also be a sweet spot for achieving a sale. Even with all the problems and the bad press built up I do feel the I4 will be a bit more of a success if they ever start deliveries!
