Which PH'ers have placed a deposit on an Emira?

Agree with this. I had a deposit down when first launched but ducked out. The FE is just too much money. In my book it is and always will be a Cayman alternative, just better looking and without a Porsche badge ( a positive in my book). It needs to be Cayman pricing. I think Lotus got carried away with their own hype with the launch price.
The market will always find its level eventually.
The Cayman GTS now starts at 73.3k. Spec it up to the Emira FE level and you will be over 80k - so the price is perhaps a bit high (86k post increase) - but not that far adrift. The issue has imo been the "issues" other than the price. 81k for the I4 does look steep, however, compared with the Cayman S (starts at 64k in pdk form) The market will always find its level eventually.

For one with a few thousand miles I'm expecting prices to settle at around £50k.
They need to drop below the price of a 991.2 911 imo.
Their closest revival in terms of package is a 4.0L Cayman GTS and they are around £50k - £65k and have a Porsche badge.
A 4.0L Cayman GTS is not ‘around £50k’. They currently start in the £60’s apart from one low-spec private sale car advertised at £59,995. They need to drop below the price of a 991.2 911 imo.

Not sure I’d want a Renault Alpine BCR, that French reliability et al.

While I'm not going to suggest that the report is actually inaccurate, it doesn't tell the whole story. The A110 hasn't actually had that MANY reliability issues BUT two - alternator failure and fuel pump failure have afflicted many and left people stranded. That naturally colours people's views significantly (including mine, which had the alternator fail). However the alternator issues have long since been resolved, and I doubt there are any cars out there which haven't been fixed. dailymail.co.uk/money/cars/article-12670963/New-cars-Britons-love-models-owners-regret-buying.html
Alpine have had (I think) 3 revised pumps attempting to fix the issue and Alpine believe that the last one (released over a year ago) finally fixes the issue. They are currently planning a rollout of a (free) fit of the replacement pump to cars at risk. I am the first to admit this fix has been far too long in coming.
All that said, I don't think anyone contemplating a NEW car should be unduly concerned about unreliability - but a bit of investigation into the status of the fuel pump on older cars would definitely be prudent.
I and others have received (today!) an email confirming that our cars will be scheduled for pump replacement. My car is now over 5 years old. Despite the issues that I (and others) have experienced, I have kept this car longer than any other car I have owned - and it's the only car I have ever had - and still do - consider as a "keeper". There is no single car - at any price - that I would choose as a replacement.

Now nearly the same price as late model Evoras 410s.
All seems odd to me. how can there be 72 for sale?
Were there that many flippers or is this all just a result of the ridiculous specify a car and then don't buy it policy?
I assumed that I would be buying an Evora but at this rate Emiras are looking better value. I'm in no rush and so I'm happy to sit and watch for a while. Just hope it isn't a disaster for Lotus.

No, not driven either.
I have been a passenger on the road in a Sport Racer and a passenger for a 20 min session at a track day in a 400.
I was offered a test drive in an Emira but felt guilty about taking them up on it and wasting their time because the chances of me buying a new one are slim.
I have assumed that the Emira is probably too refined and sophisticated for me, hence why a 410 seemed more likely.

I'd say it's well worth driving one before you spend time monitoring the prices. They seem to be marmite cars.I have been a passenger on the road in a Sport Racer and a passenger for a 20 min session at a track day in a 400.

It seems the IPS versions are around 10% more on the used prices.
Did they cost that much more new?
I’ll be interested come spring next year at mid - high £50’s, but would prefer the auto.
I drove an IPS Evora, it was the Speed Racer model which I think was around a 2014 car. It was actually a really good box and way better than any of the journalists gave it credit for.Did they cost that much more new?

It made me think that one day I may consider buying an IPS Exige.

I think an auto suits the Evora and hopefully it does the Emira (yet to drive one though), but I don’t think I’d like it in an Exige (I’ve had 3 of those).

This guy gives a positive review of the Emira, but to me, it shows what I was saying about it not having a sense of speed or power. Have a flick through the driving parts:
Maybe it's the engine noise, maybe it's the excellent visibility which kills the sense of speed, I can't quite put my finger on it.
