Which PH'ers have placed a deposit on an Emira?
Discussion
Deposit down for me.
Bought an S1 back in 98 which we still have and will exchange for the Emira. My last swan song of a petrol sports car.
Leaning towards the 4 pot with DCT but can't help thinking a manual is the way to go. If the 4 pot farts and pops (chav) it'll be the V6.
Green, silver wheels, tan leather, yellow callipers, lower black pack, alcatara steering wheel. The diamond cut wheels will be hell to remove a scuff or two.

After seeing it at FOS I couldn't not put money down, even though 2 seats and long stop start commutes means it is a really really stupid idea.
Finally remember to do deposit on Saturday so not sure where that puts me in a list.
We were planning on a Macan GTS, which again we've put a deposit down on, which would be a much more practical car (then maybe an Exige for the garage?), but until commitment time comes for one or the other I'm not trying to think about it,
Shame can't have both really.

Was looking at a GTS myself unfortunately given the recent facelift news and the potential that it will go up by £6K didn’t sit well. Finally remember to do deposit on Saturday so not sure where that puts me in a list.

The lack of buttons?
No that wasn’t a factor. My pre facelift ideal GTS spec was £67k.Of course the fact the Turbo is now the GTS does appeal but not the fact that price could well be north of £75k.
For that a lot more (desirable to me) cars would come in budget.
However that isn’t my budget lol. Emira AMG with a few options is more my price range.
I placed a £500 deposit with B&C in May, and then paid £2,000 to Lotus on launch day (the £500 then gets refunded). Jamie at B&C suggested that Lotus would 'prioritise' those that had placed pre-launch deposits with them.
V6 manual
Hethel yellow, no black pack
silver or diamond-cut lightweight wheels
minimal other gadgets/options, but if previous launch editions are anything to go by...

Went to FOS yesterday with the plan of placing an order today if I really liked it.
Decided against it. Looks very pretty, it’s a baby supercar for sure. However I just cannot get excited enough about it, mainly due to the lack of a properly exciting drivetrain.
It’s a brand new car? But is it? For me the engine is the heart of the car and the 3.5 whilst effective is leggy and matched to an old box. The 2.0t, again whilst very effective is out of a hatchback and I’m afraid it’s only party piece will be constant pops and bangs - which I don’t like.
Will sit on the fence until an S or something comes out. Good luck with your orders…

I came across the Emira story on the mainboard half an hour ago and boom, ordered. What an extraordinary success for Lotus; when was the last time there was any froth about a new car?
About November 2020 when the GR Yaris reviews came out The forum thread was moving so fast there was a new page being added about every 10 mins and every other poster had ordered one!as7920 said:

Ah yes the one I have 'on order' would have been almost that same exact number. We only went for that on basis most of the options we were adding to an S were on the GTS already - man maths prevailed. If it ended up over £75k for same we would have to price up the S as originally viewed and see where that left us.Of course the fact the Turbo is now the GTS does appeal but not the fact that price could well be north of £75k.

I was told the prices would be out for Goodwood but assume the Cayenne Turbo GT overshadowed it, they can't price as can't build, or something logical like that.
Either way a Macan doesn't excite like the illogical alternative of an Emira and until commitment point I've no idea what we will do.
