Still no Emira sub forum.

Does PH hate the Emira or something?
Maybe they are waiting until people have actually taken delivery of them and can comment on them, bot.

Aren't 'bots' more of a Twitter thing?

The entire Lotus forum is not that active. In fact none of the car/brand specific sub forums are on here. Do you really think the Emira needs its own entire forum? Come on man, get a grip of yourself :-)

Watched EVO and Autocar... disappointing and lukewarm respectively.

Very surprised. I guess there is just nothing like a Porsche.

Not sure what else to expect from the Emira. Seems to do what it set out to do. I was an early depositer, very excited one and wanted the 3.5 v6, but when prices came out it was dearer than a base 718 GTS 4.0, which totally killed it for me and I cancelled my order. Then not being patient I brought another 981 GTS. I think the 2.0 ltr will be the one to go for maybe in this case, not sure how the 718 GTS 4.0 will not beat the 3.5 V6 it in every way, maybe looks? Any how I'm going to get an Exige instead probably lol.

The Porsche subforums are very active, with lively discussions about contrasting stitching, leather steering column shrouds and other weighty issues.laugh

My thoughts too. Not sure why you would choose one over a GTS 4.0 at the same price point. I’ll definitely be keeping my Exige as there is nothing else that comes close for sense of occasion and rawness.

Yep, mostly men pushing retirement age arguing about whose car is more of a future classic, or how one person's GTS is effectively worthless because it doesn't have, oh I don't know, centre locking wheels/GTS interior pack/buckets/etc.

Luckily we`re all different and I`d sooner have an Emira over a Cayman any day of the week.

Me too.

I’ve done the Porsche thing but never had a Lotus. On looks alone this wins hands down and I’m sure the right spec will drive beautifully.

I have been disappointed with the Emira from day one when I read it was 1400kg. If hypothetically the AMG engine is the best option I would buy an A110. The only reason I was holding off for the Emira V6was the manual option but th ereviews have been mixed and gearbox was disappointing. If I was buying a four cylinder with double clutch gearbox then I would buy the Apine. I do think we will never see another car like it under 1100KG.
The manual in my Exige 410 is great so either EVO got a dodgy car or Jethro just could not get on with it, it does take quite a bit of time to adapt to it as heel and toe takes a much bigger stab on the throttle to rev match and the gear box is very positive and notchy but I find it superb now I’m used to it and when I jump between it and my 987 Spyder both manuals I find them both great so I can’t see Emira been any different to my Exige as it’s the same drivetrain.
I have sat in Exige and evora in showrooms and the gearbox felt good. A few of the test reviews mentioned a less than great gearchange. I would like to try it myself.

The gearbox on my Evora sport 410 was very good, strange to hear it being notchy in the review. Must be a pre production issue.

Evo have never liked the drivetrain, looked at “The Knowledge” section in the mag and the drivetrain is mentioned as a negative in nearly every Evora variant.

It’s understandable I guess, the engine is heavy with a low redline and the gearbox is from a diesel. My Evora was often awkward going down to 2nd.

Fact is though it is characterful to actually live with and I think this is where Harry’s review differs to Evo and Autocar. The mags want to highlight every minor flaw, whereas an owner Is more concerned with how it makes you feel. My Evora made me feel pretty good smile

I definitely felt like the Evora would have been nicer with a higher redline. The v6 was very good overall I thought, just that by the time it got going it was time to change gear.

Seems to be a thing with Toyota engines. I sometimes hit the limiter in my Evora because it felt like the engine still had plenty to give, I’ve even done it inadvertently in an Exige 410.

My current Elise 1.6 is ridiculous for it - the engine only wakes up at 4k but is so free revving after that it feels like it ought to be redlined at 9k not 7k! Have to keep a keen eye on the shift lights or just accept the occasional bump into the limiter.

Fundamentally they’re repmobile engines built for strength and reliability. Lotus don’t change any internal at all so it’ll never be a pure-blood like a Porsche. On the flip side a 12yo Evora isn’t the time bomb a 997 is lol.

The Emira seems to have an even lower redline at 6750rpm. In my Exige 350 the sport button gave a few hundred more rpm- enough to stop me looking at the dash at the wrong times or short shifting.

Really disappointed by that tbh. Would drive me nuts, I think. I tolerated it on my S3 Elise because the rest of the car was so good. But used to hit the limiter so often when I first got it. Had to change my style and accept lower rev limit and short shift it.

I loved the mechanical nature of both my S3 Elise and Exige. Not the best on track, but good enough and I thought great on the road for interaction. I’d be surprised if the Emira is any less rewarding.

Me Too . I had a Cayman and never liked it I just don't see all the fuss about them just Porsche fan boys.
The Emira looks incredible next to the boring Porsche.

Saw my first one on the M3 yesterday, LHD. It looks a bit small but only because a Ferrari these days is huge. The curves and ducts looked very dramatic. I was not remotely envious of the driver though. rolleyes
