I want to keep my Emira looking pristine, I've read the Emira has particularly 'soft paint' and want to try and keep it looking new for as long as I can.

I have had ceramic coating done on previous cars which looked amazing for a short while, but I'm not 100% convinced it actually protected my paint so well. Felt more like a really good polish and wax smile

With the Emira, I want it properly detailed and will no doubt get a ceramic coat, but I'm tempted to extend that to PPF.

Now, my questions regarding PPF (never having had paint protecfion film) are this:

1. Is PPF much better than a ceramic coat

2. If you get PPF is ceramic coat not needed

3. If getting PPF would PPF on top of the ceramic coat be wise

Anyone done any of the above??

Would welcome feedback.

Ps. Long shot, can you recommend anyone for the above (I'm Teesside, North East UK)

Sorry I can't answer the ceramic coat questions (my guess works be not needed with ppf).

But we have seen stories on here about insurance being unhappy with ppf. Do check with your insurers before doing it.

PPF will be a much better protection for your paint. But obviously comes at a cost.

Ceramic coating will offer very limited protection imo, just makes it much easier to clean and stay clean for longer.

If it’s a keeper and you insist on original pristine paintwork go PPF.

But again probably depends on if it’s a garage queen or going to rack up the miles on road trips around the NC500etc

I can't live with a stone chip, so PPF is a must for me banghead

recently I saw a Emira with a stone chip on the rear quarter, with less than a 100 miles on it,

ruined the car because of its amazing body lines

So I think the car would need complete coverage rather than just the front,

as it must suck up the stones off our poor roads yikes

1. Is PPF much better than a ceramic coat

It will certainly “ protect “ your car more and many are self healing.

2. If you get PPF is ceramic coat not needed

You would think not but many seem to get it on top.

3. If getting PPF would PPF on top of the ceramic coat be wise

Ceramic goes on top of PPF I believe.

Anyone done any of the above??

Sod’s Law dictates a stone chip about 1 cm away from where the PPF ends.
Particularly vulnerable places perhaps depending on your driving circumstances.
Covering the whole car has always seemed a slight waste of money and more for resale but many people seem to do it so maybe I’m wrong.
No idea how soft Emira paint is but probably not as soft as Astons.
I had the whole of the front of my Exige done but on various Astons nothing other than the extended sills on my GT8.
On my R8 I had it completely detailed from new and just went with ceramic coating.

Yes ceramic is applied on to the ppf , it will add further protection to the ppf and will make the car easier to clean/keep clean, no reason not to do it imo since ppf is the expensive thing here and you'll probably only have to have it ceramic coated once

I've never actually had PPF on a car. I have been put off by it being said that ultimately the PPF will itself start to look a bit secondhand - and is a bugger to get off. Not sure how much of an issue this is - but if the car is a "keeper" is something to investigate.

Ceramic coating makes it easy to wash and keeps the gloss, it does nothing for stone chips protection, no matter what anyone says.

PPF will look great for 10 years if you look after it and offers very good protection from chips/damage.

I wouldnt have a car without it.
