I am so tempted to order a Taycan CT Turbo...

Anybody have anything to say? I test drove a turbo the other day non CT .. Jumping out of a Etron
Have a turbo if you have to have the ultimate, but a lot of reviews say there's not really any need for that much power. You don't often get to use it. Even the boggo 4 is plenty swift enough, let alone 4S.

Having lived with an I-Pace for a few months, even that is fast enough that, in polite company (i.e. with passengers, or with grocery shopping in the boot that you don't want to mash or blend) you really don't use full throttle. So it depends how you think you will use the car I guess.

Thanks, I am kinda replacing a toy as well, so a bit of a ultimate daily. It has crossed my mind given how much dearer the turbo really is. I am a bit of a all or nothing guy too. I already steped down from the turbo S but thats simply ridiculously priced

No but I love my Macan Turbo PP as a daily so I am just wondering whether it is the right thing to do.
Trawling this thread as I'm exactly here now. Did you do it? Was it good?!
No. We have kept the Turbo PP for now…waiting to see a Cross Turismo though I am not in a massive hurry. Just bought a house, stamp duty bill has reduced my appetite for needless spending on cars somewhat !

I'm sure the 4S is fast enough - I had one on order, and was confident that would be the case - but then rather impulsively bought a turbo instead. I was concerned it might prove to be a little too fast and pointless, but to be honest it just feels like a similar level of overtaking prowess to my M6 F13 comp, which I loved, but without the sturm & drang involved in getting the car moving quickly. The power is very manageable, and imho desirable. Not interested in launch control - not ever used it in any of the previous Porsches or M cars I've owned - but I enjoy the capacity to overtake quickly and fuss-free. Just be careful carrying too much speed into a corner - without engine braking, you need to get on the brakes more than you would normally, and its the only time you feel its great weight.

If you have days where it's just you (or you with a happy and complicit co-pilot) then a turbo is an excellent choice for a 4 door hoon machine.

I find it strange that people are saying the 4s is fast enough . Never hear that about other Porsches .

I found the 4s a bit disappointing tbh.

So no one has ever said that, in reality, the base Carrera 911 is pretty much all the Porsche most people will ever need, for example?

I've only driven the Turbo but tbh it distorted my face too much 0-40 so ordered the 4S, despite chasing bhp all my life! I will be having the 4S estate for a couple of days in a few weeks before locking in and am seriously hoping 500bhp will be enough with that wall of torque. Turbos are about £20k more like for like - quite a wedge for same mechanicals (you get Bose, extended leather and ceramic coated steel disks over 4S too I think - about £6k). Turbo S has a beefier front motor inverter I think for more frequent launches...if that's your thing!

Difference spec for spec is around £15k. Depends on whether you would have all the options included in the Turbo - which I did want. You get that back with the residuals.

100bhp+ for 15k has to be the best value option in Porsche history!

I’ve heard it said about the base 911 in virtually every review.

Can you stop that please! It's just a software key any lad with a laptop could soon sort biggrin >reaches for his spreadsheet and the man maths restarts<

Same spec as my 99k 4S TC the Turbo, with its std extras and my must haves (inc RWS) is:

Base price
£ 117,960.00
Price for equipment
£ 6,839.00
Total price
£ 124,799.00

That's the cost of an entire decent car more...

The 'extras' inc in that - from what I see are 20", Bose, Extended leather, metallic paint, cheaper surround cam.

I've never been 100% clear on residuals on a Porsche given that chunky options are usually taken into account, but a Turbo with £7k of extras is going to hold better than a 4S with £11k?

I'm not sure if this is what you're asking, but the GFV is based on the base model only - options are not considered.

What? so so many people say the base 911 is the sweet spot, ditto with the Cayman T. I think you'll find outside of PH the consensus is less is more fun.

But this IS Pistonheads, not the real world ........ and the 4S isn't the base Taycan.

I've got a base Taycan as a loaner currently - I wouldn't say that it, or the Turbo which it's standing in for have an unusable amount of power.

I'd say that all of the power is more usable than anything I've ever driven.

Run that by me again (not that I will be doing PCP as this is an asset (debt!) that has to show on MY balance sheet, not others'...). If you add £10k to a 4S in options a PCP financer will NOT take that extra £10k spend into account???

That is my understanding, it's why a lightly optioned Turbo (for instance) can cost the same per month on finance as a heavily optioned 4S.
