Thinking about leasing a poverty spec 4s. Are there any must have options?

Lead times seem a bit of a guess at the moment, but most likely 9 to 12 months?

My Tesla M3P is at the end of it's lease, with option of extending for 1 more year. May do this whilst waiting for a Taycan.

The big battery for sure, and the poverty spec wheels are *unbelievably* bad. For me, folding mirrors were also non-negotiable.

Having lived with it for 6 months or so now, everything else is kind of nice to have, but I wouldn’t consider it without those three things.

When do you ever use them?

The only essentials I'd add would be big battery (if that's still an option), RWS and 4+1 seating

Reckon the arse end is nearly as wide as the mirrors. Unless you routinely park on the road, I’d not (didn’t) bother.

On a succession of cars (NOT a Taycan, though), I've found the folding mirrors to be a very visible indicator of whether the car is locked or not - useful for this, if no other reason IMHO.

FWIW the lights stop on if you don;t lock it. Plus, initially, the door handles don't drop flush into the doors.

Agreed, quick window check to make sure it's locked.

Fair enough. I've never locked mine so not a big priority! hehe

Email today to advise vehicle build has finally been completed - original delivery was expected July but got held up with semiconductor shortage.

Does anyone have an indication of how long it would typically take to arrive at OPC? I would assume we are looking at January handover?

It depends on shipping. Cars come to UK vie VW's port at Emden in northern Germany.

If a vessel just sailed and your car's one of the first for the next one onto the quayside, it will take longer than if it arrives there in the nick of time to get one of the last spaces.

In my case it was roughly 1 week from being told it was on the ship to it arriving at the OPC.

It gets from Emden in a day and mine arrived at Sheerness last week. the detailer, PPF, boot dog liner measurements (which will be the 1st UK template) is all booked for next week. Even the hotel is booked so PPF can start at crack of dawn and is uncancellable. Its still at the b port. #Patience.

I think you are missing out if you do this, whilst (if you can take advantage of the tax breaks) the base cost of these vehicles is not too bad, it is still not a bargain option and so I would still feel justified in spending the extra to get a spec I really liked. If you are not getting the tax breaks then these are actually expensive cars and I think you would be mad to skip options unless you were genuinely happy without. I personally tend to find low option cars a bit like a nice house with cheapo furniture inside and I don't really enjoy it properly.

For me must have options were the following (and I worked hard to cut out things I'd normally go for like upgraded leather and so on):
- metallic paint
- upgraded wheels
- panoramic roof
- upgraded speakers
- upgraded battery
- few additional £200-£300 pieces like airbags for kids in back, folding mirrors (I also think they are a must have), auto dimming mirrors OR tints, etc etc

That being said, I do find it very annoying how options work with regards to lease values, how can there possibly be zero residual value of £10k, £20k of add-ons... not very fair... and moreover I would love to see someone order a completely option-free Taycan - just to beat Porsche at their own game!

I guess its just garage queens that don't have folding mirrors.

I get it Fridaysmile

Its an absolute quagmire of value v desire v confusion v specification!

I REALLY wanted to keep mine to 5 figs and not get carried away by this option world. I almost did it too! So, my conclusion after 6 months on the b configurator and trying to base it on value and tangibles rather than Laurence Llewelyn trim cuffs or options of unclear benefit (acoustic glass for eg), and also based on extended test drives and Silverstone PEC:

Essential:
20"
RWS
Bose (then add a proper aftermarket woofer)
150 kw DC charger upgrade
Heated steering wheel (and I am a man who doesn't own a jumper...)
Folding mirrors
Puncture kit
Sport Chrono - steering driving mode knob
4+1 rear seats

Nice to have:
Alcantara steering wheel
Black windows trim
Privacy glas (hide work kit)
Dog mesh thing - whatever it is
18 way sports seats

Indulgent:
PDCC
PTV
Grey top tint screen

£11,478 k + VAT on extras

Would have loved the better leather and contrasting seat panels and passenger display but that would have been loads more. I think my choices add value rather than swop trim? I'll buy the colour wheel hubcaps and pay the same as the order option price but KEEP the monochrome poverty ones. They so need to credit the deletion of any spec but just milk it...

My best option was selling my Macan privately and beating the PX price by over £10keekbiggrin

Like what, any suggestions? I have the Bose but I'm not that blown away by it. It's better loud. I'm not really sure what I was expecting as I've never had a good stereo would a bass speaker be a big improvement?

Any reason why 20" rather than the standard? Would save a whopper.
Drove 4S back to back with & without the 20", & both myself/wife instantaneously felt a more comfortable ride with the standards, confirmed by the sales manager too who sat in the back.
Yes doesn't look as good, but you are inside the car & for the money.......

A clever engineer once told me to never spec wheel sizes more than 1'' bigger than standard as they nearly always provide the best compromise between ride and handling. Hence why I chose 20'' on mine.
