I've owned two Taycans and found both the most intuitive and overall impressive cars I've ever owned. It seems to defy the laws of physics in how it manages to handle its body weight with its magical air suspension. Never had braking issues and thought they're a huge hoot to drive at all speeds.

Just to be clear. The 'problem', if you can call it that, is that as you crawl into a spot on the brakes, in my case in my garage, i need to park about 2 inches from the back wall to still have access to my workshop area. As you approach you naturally start braking harder but the Taycan has you covered and does it for you... which when you're not used to it means you brake too hard and stop too early and do this several times jerking forward and over reacting every time to get close. The trick is to crawl up to the wall on gentle brakes and let it stop you completely without you pressing any harder. I think you can turn it off in the PCM but I have left it on because I thought it might stop me bumping it when I'm drunk wink

The Taycan taking off was obviously driver error not a brake issue. I guess it's especially easy to do in an EV if you're distracted and forget to put in park.

Can you explain how the car does it for you ? I park near the garage door and the car never takes over . Maybe I'm not close enough?

Just got confirmation of a March delivery for my Turbo. I need to decide on the final spec by December. Do I need much on top of what is already a good standard spec? What are the must have options? I don't want to go silly!

I always make a point of reading your posts mate, I was being ironic sorry!

As someone who finally gave up on a new order and bent over for a nearly new 4S (I hope I don’t live to regret it), the brake issue intrigues me. On other forums owners are reporting that the uPgrade has had no noticeable effect, so is Digga imagining it, or is it related to other factors like ceramics or surface coated perhaps? I’m also a little alarmed at suggestions the car is difficult at parking speeds, I remember the video of a Taycan flying off a driveway and always wondered how much the car contributed to that accident.
There has been suggestion on another forum that there is a particular procedure for bleeding the brakes for the Taycan, I don’t remember exactly but people writing it solved a low speed braking problem they had.
The 2 Taycans I have driven seemed pretty normal to me brake wise, I liked the way they worked.

I have one pedal driving on my lawn tractor and tried it on an iPace, didn’t like it but had to get used to it on the mower, glad Taycan doesn’t have it.

Everyone's idea of 'must have' will be different, but options that I have on my CT turbo that I would definitely have again include rear wheel steer, club leather, seat ventilation (so nice in the summer!), pan roof, and HUD. Also, the dealer I order through suggested black contrasting door handles, which I went with and think they look pretty good! Next car I will probably also go for acoustic glass

Frank - they checked the bleeding on mine but was fine - but it is a known issue on one caliper .

I found the i pace one pedal great ( but the "mechanical" brakes were terrible if you needed to use them ) 0.5 g retard max .
If you didn't like the ipace , don't try an electric Mini - my wife has one and I really don't like driving it .

A mate is visiting with his daughter. Wife and I took them out for dinner to a great pub a few villages away which is a nice drive.

Mate I have known a long while, from when he and I both ran TVRs. He's worked with and driven most things TVR, Lotus and Land Rover. So he knows the deal, but was a little skeptical of EV.

First off, had recently borrowed one of the new Range Rovers and was very impressed with the ride refinement, but also how flat the Taycan corners at the same time.

He was utterly staggered by the 'performance' feel when pressing on on A and B roads. Felt it was very much a 'thin', a real Porsche. Overall, he said it had totally converted him to (good) EVs.

Brakes behaved impeccably. biggrin
I took 3 Aston drivers out in mine a couple of weeks ago and then yesterday a VW salesman as it was part of the deal in the missus getting her ID5 and then in the afternoon took a sound engineer for a blast as he was lusting after it and knew EVERYTHING about them. They were all a bit shocked and astonished at the pace, composure and grip and I need to remind myself how lucky I am a bit more!

Has anyone specced the HUD? I was wondering if it shows the maps from Apple carplay or google maps when driving, or is it limited to just the Porsche satnav?

Sure, as you approach the wall slowly keeping a constant gentle brake pressure, I guess about 18 inches away the park assist is giving a constant beep, the car just brakes harder without you changing pressure, bringing the car to a stop. You release slightly and it edges forward but the car intervenes again and stops you. Ultimately you can get about 1/2 inch away. Obviously I haven't experimented too much with it but there's a comfortable speed you can approach and get to about 2" in one go with a constant brake otherwise it takes 3 or 4 goes. I might try it with cardboard boxes and see if it stops it's self without any brakes at all.

Yes, I think that it's very useful. I think it's just the satnav data, and other things like speed limits - see https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/pic-of-h...

Mine doesn't auto brake unless active cruise is on and im going forward - dont get this at all.

I also took the 3 month active steering trial -= I think the software was programmed by lawyers! Its truly useless. It's like driving by committee and the human remains much better at it. The second you give it more responsibility it goes - 'please take over steering'. Completely undependable and ducks responsibility - its just pointless as you cant trust and relax. Had me way too close to central barrier a couple of times when i was testing it and watching it like a hawk. Anyone else tried it?

Think the standard Taycan has weakened but the CT still seems strong with very long lead times. Given the BIK savings and just how good these are to drive and own, I think they’ll hold up longer than most even when some normality returns to the used market.

Does anyone know what is going on with the Bose stereo on new orders? I've read that the standard stereo is awful so went for the Bose but it now says no longer available on the configurator. I'm not paying £4200 for the Burmeister, how bad is the standard stereo?

I have been told that finance companies are adjusting the residuals, but dealers are still asking way over for late used tackle, but it’s hard to believe that prices won’t soften over the next few months but who knows. I recently paid overs for a late 4S after giving up on my new order, pretty sure it will hurt me but the car is stunning,

As a footnote, my broker friend has been offered two cancelled orders (he has a good relationship with Porsche) one a CT4S, in the last coupe of weeks, could be a sign of change.

Didn't try the standard and never been impressed with BOSE .
The Burmeister is stunning .

I keep an eye on used prices while my patience is tested on a GTS ST order.

In the last month or two I've seen used asking prices through Porsche approved drop (for nicely spec'd cars). Not by a huge amount, but enough that a couple of cars slid below list before being removed from the sales list.

I suspect this situation will happen more and more as the recession bites. These are fantastic cars, but not limited production or anything especially special. No way would I pay overs on one.

We'll see what the next batch of allocations brings (I believe they are due next month).
