However I write this it’s going to sound wrong !

To be fair in many cases it’s a £130-£170k 4dr car, I think the problem is the monthly rental / lease is so cheap for a £130-£170k car that perhaps it’s now being bought / rented by people who don’t normally buy in this range

I always took the view that if I was worried about paying 20% of the purchase price of a car in repairs in one year, I couldn’t afford it.

This year has been a bad one one on repairs on my classics !!

However it sounds, you're not wrong. I've probably lost 50k on mine but it's been flawless and absolutely brilliant and I'd do it again. Lease isn't an option where I live.

USA owners on Taycan forum have had to had new screen with new roof

How much was the roof replacement?

Did it crack or was it chipped?

A well specced M3 is a six figure saloon car now. Money isn’t worth what it was.
Cracked internally. Replaced under warranty so don't know the cost (didn't think to ask, not too fussed either way as it was covered under warranty smile).

Am on a Taycan forum and may have heard of one that had to have both replaced....think it may have been an external chip? But as noted above, I wonder what it would cost to have my screen and pano' roof replaced on my XC90 smile

What's the residual on a 100k M3 after two years? Looking on Autotrader it's not going to be far off Taycans. And I would bet parts and insurance costs aren't going to be a million miles out. It comes with the territory.

I guess we all take our chances with any car we buy. We just have to go in with eyes open. A 6 figure fast saloon is (a) not going to be cheap to run and (b) is going to get kicked in the nuts on residuals. T'was always thus (once the craziness of "new shiny" dies down) - run costs on my old B7 R4 were eye watering really. But what a car it was!

Heater broken for a second time. 1st time was about a year ago...I thought the replacement part was an actual 'fix' but it would very much appear not. It's no wonder the second hand values of these are tanking. Absolute joke. No Porsche courtesy car available till 12/2 so not waiting that long and instead it's getting picked up on a trailer and I'll be getting Enterprise's 'finest' for a quicker turnaround. smh

The new, latest fixed heater matrix has only been available for last few months so if done 12 months ago would definitely have been the original design.
The service manager at JCT had been reassured by Porsche that the re-engineered part (which is readily available in stock now) has not yet had a single failure. Mine was fixed and returned in 2 working days a couple of weeks back.
Might by all in my mind, but it now seems to heat quicker as well.

Thanks for that - was very much sold the story that the fix was an actual fix. I wonder how many cars are still sitting on the old heater then. Seems crazy that there's been no official recall to manage the issue within the cars.

Oddly, the wekend before last, when it was pretty cold, my wife (not me) had an "air conditinoing error" message flash up on her iPhone. She does use the car, but not often, and I thought it odd I didn't see the error message. For now, it's working...

Well, over 2yrs since a post on the first pages... How you finding it?

Personally, I'm still loving the car.

Only issue has been 1 reboot for a PDCC false error and a boot switch PCB due to water ingress - ohh and they filed down a squeaky bit on the seat.

App is still a bit clunky and slow to connect to car and may say its in privacy mode or the car is unlocked when its not.

Have noted no loss of range. Anyone?

Have driven many other EV's inc Lotus Eletre most recently - nothing comes close for ride and handling and feel to the wobble free grippy Taycan.

And FRUNK. Huge new EV's with no frunk - even RWD BMW ones. Simply a dealbreaker.

The market may stabilise (seeing £84k EQC's for £40k and then a trade bid of £33 next day....) but till then I'll just keep enjoying it - its far better than any family car before from hot Audi estates to 535D M Tourings. Different league.

Love it.love

Yep, every drive is a pleasure. I think the only other car I have ever owned where you get in, with anticipation, whether you are setting out on a trip you're looking forward to, or you're just off on a nuisance trip to B&Q is my 2013 110 Defender. In both cases, I struggle to put my fginger on exactly why, but suffice to say, every journey is a joy.

Not so joyful is the silly packaging. Whistl the car looks fully crazy - a 4 door 911 - it is just too long and wide for parking convenience and, in spite of that, not very well proportioned for either front or rear passengers. Granted, it's a 2+2 not a full 4 seater, but the B pillar is a hindrance to front passengers and I don't see how or why front seats could not have been about 100 to 150mm further forward.

App is slow, but it works beautifully and reliably.

No range diminution yet.

Did you get the RWS? This really helps shrink the car a bit. But yes, I too have an NCP mark on a rear wheel despite absolute paranoia to avoid them in these pesky tight car parks.frown

You know the ECU has been cracked by an US firm by now - full time 600bhp 4S possible. I wont bother though as its acceleration balanced with total grip is just immense as is. So tractable when nailing past an ar-tic in a damp mid Wales!

The RWS, along with a couple of other bits like 20 or 21" wheels, was something I flip-flopped on so often, I honesly couldn't remember precisely what I'd orders when I went to collect the car. hehe

No RWS and don't miss it. I have driven 4x4's with twin axle car transporters and plant trailers and 7.5t trucks too, so it wasn't the manoeuvring as much as the sheer, physical dimensions of the car. One of my other vehicles is a VW T6 van and the Taycan is both longer and wider overall. It is a bit of a bd at times.

I was told under the impression that a recall has been put in place and that every Taycan manufactured before Feb 23 is getting the heater upgrade. And that includes any cars that have already had a new heater unless it was recent and used latest version.

Could just be my lease co have been useless at passing on the info then, which is most likely as they have been a shambles. Car goes back in 3 months anyway, so not long to go. Next car will start with a V, not an I or and e!

My heater upgrade was circa Feb 2023 and I think/assume it was to latest spec.

I thought I'd do a quick write up on my drive in the Taycan 4S ST. We had one for a couple of days this week when our Cayenne was in for an engine warning light.

We've owned the Cayenne for a few years now and starting to look for a replacement, Taycan/Defender/cayenne all being considered.

We do about 10k miles per year, and needs to do family/dog duties.

Firstly, the Taycan looks fantastic. Very futuristic and makes me look twice every time I see one on the road. Particularly in estate form, I personally love the looks.

Interior felt familiar but new, everything reasonably similar to the cayenne but much newer, controls all the same and the wireless android auto worked brilliantly.

The car was handed over the a full charge but only showered 181 miles on the range? The car itself has only done 900 miles.

The drive, is fantastic. I've owned quite a few quick cars but this really covers ground quickly when pressing on. It's a very nice balance of instant torque and the low CoG. It honestly felt like it was gliding across my local back roads. It's deceptively quick for such a 'big car'. Overtaking is alarmingly easy! I thought sport mode was the happy point for me, and thought the sport plus exhaust sound generator was awful. The instant acceleration made up for it.. I do wonder if the novelty would wear off after time though.

In total I covered a genuine 90 miles but when handed back the range indicated only 55 miles left. Bit concerning.

Tech, again brilliant. All worked very well and seemless. Pretty sure it had a heated steering wheel but couldn't see the button for it? The wheel was definitely warm!

Downsides.. the interior space is far too small for us unfortunately. With my driver seat in my position I couldn't fit behind myself. Its actually about the same inside as my Mégane (rear space). Also the boot is probably just a bit too small for us if we had the dog in it.

In summary, fantastic car to drive but as a family car for us it just wouldn't work. The range just isn't good enough, and interior would be too much of a squeeze. Can't wait to see the electric cayenne

Range is probably par for the mileage on the car (they improve a bit with some initial mileage) and this time of year. Pre-heating the battery seems to make a big difference, as does being mindful of speed (increments over 60-70mph make a difference).

How tall are you? I'm 6'4" and can just about squeeze behind myself. Foot room is the bigger issue when doing this as it's tricky getting feet under the front seats.

The middle seat in the back is occasional use only IMO. But the boot's a reasonable size (we don't have a dog smile). We just went on a long run as a family of 4 and it was comfortable (very according to the OH).

The heated wheel button is behind the bottom spoke of the wheel. You have to know it's there as otherwise it feels like part of the spoke. The wheel comes on automatically (I think when ambient temps are less than 10degC). Only on/off though, no temp control. It feels about the same as 1 of 3 on our Volvo wheel.

Still loving ours, just ticked 2 years old and fast approaching 50k miles. Need to think about replacement options as it's due back to the lease company next January.

It's been great, other than 2 heater failures (Dec 22 & Dec 23), but the most recent was collected, fixed and returned within 72hrs.

6 months in with my Turbo S CT now.

Going in for the replacement fixed heater today and getting a Macan from Porsche assistance.

Been fantastic all rounder and can't think of anything else I'd rather daily.

Absolutely monstered through our recent floods jacked up in gravel mode.

Averaging 210 miles winter range at the moment. I haven't had to even install a hone charger - just have the porsche connect plug in timed to charge it overnight, since I only do a 100 mile office run every few days its always recharged whenever I need it and haven't had to use public chargers more than a couple of times.

Love that spec.

I had a Macan T when mine was in for service a while back and really warmed to it. Had no real preconceptions of the car, but was pleasantly surprised by it.
