I've got the second ones down because I hated all the choices so intended to swap them. They've grown on me now and I'll keep them. Easiest wheels in the world to keep clean too.

Well what a difference a day makes. It seems our weak link was the chap at the dealer that has just moved on.

Three emails exchanged this morning with our new contact and we have confirmation that the colour I chose is available at the lower cost point and we should expect a PTS build slot of January if I lock my spec in today, hopefully with a February delivery. To be confirmed - but it looks like that what's available right now.

So I'm going for this in Oak Green Metallic.

With no options at all......it's still circa £20K more with a like for like spec and I'm not likely to buy one of those and not having it painted a colour I want.

As we're buying two (although my business partner has now decided on a saloon) we had to draw the line somewhere.

Anyhow, when mine arrives next year it gives me two cars to sell and combine with a bit of cash for something a bit special.

The partially blocked off wheel is for drag reasons.
Wheels are a substantial influence on the drag, and hence range, so all the aero choices will not be very open and be more like discs than chariot wheels.
I prefer wheels painted rather than having lacquered bright bits which always corrode.
Still torn, but I think the 20" without the false disk is the compromise.

I recently too decided mixed black and lacquered bright bits are a stupid hassle - my 21" Turbos on the Macan all need doing. They lift and discolour after about 2 years. Just noted it on the once pristine lacquered diamod cuts on my other car - now milky underneath in places. That's £450 to fix for the next 2 years, and repeat - rubbish. Not fit. Painted wheels from now on for me too. So go for the 19" as winters and then get 20" forged e-mission lookalikes in black or dual tone PAINTED for about £3500 (and save a bomb over Porsche mark ups inc get another set of 19" winter wheel 'free'?

Never have I though so b much about wheels!

I went for the satin vesuvius paint option to get rid of all polished bit. I've never been a fan of diamond cut alloys, they just look a bit cack after 18 months to 2 years and that's if you manage not to curb them.

Has anybody listened to the difference in the various sound systems in the 4S?
I am a classical music lover but rarely listen to music in the car because the background noise swamps the quiet bits in a normal car. I also think a car is a poor environment for high quality sound anyway so I wondered whether the Bose system is sufficiently better to be worth best part of a grand.
At home I have spent more on my HiFi than any car I have ever owned but wonder whether it is worth it in a car.
Please redirect me if this is the wrong place to ask!

I'm not into hifi or car stereos but opted for the bose thinking it would be amazing but I'm not particularly impressed to be honest. Back when I was deciding I did read a US thread where all the hifi nuts were fawning over how amazing the burmeister with acoustic glass is.

Start listening to heavy metal, no quiet bits, job jobbed.

If you’re new to the genre I can highly recommend the remastered version of Megadeth’s Peace Sells album. HTH

I quite like metal and do listen to it sometimes. Not often though...
TBH unless i have a family member wanting something to occupy them I often leave the sound system off and concentrate on the driving and/or scenery.
Music isn't a background thing for me, I think I'll just keep the standard system for news and traffic reports and save a grand smile
The Burmester is too expensive for the amount of time I would use it, however good it is.

Thanks all that probably makes my decision for me and it goes some way to me considering adding Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport (PDCC Sport) as well as torque vectoring and rear wheel steer.

I have heard the Bose system in the 4S and was deeply unimpressed. For reference I am into HiFi and think the 992 Bose system is significantly better then the 991 Bose and actually quite good. Sadly the Taycan version was not great. If you really want better, I think its either Burmester (a gamble) or pay for a custom install.

As an aside, the car is so quiet I don’t think you need acoustic glass.

Any thoughts on the merit of the Sports Chrono option as a worthwhile cost option on an EV?

I don't have it on my current 4S and see no need for it. I've got a Taycan Cross Turismo coming and left Sport Chrono off that as well. You get a clock and a knob, that's it.

Where do you get your car cleaned or do you do it yourself ? My Macan Turbo PP has diamond cut wheels are they are all absolutely fine three years and nearly 30k miles.

Used to have a Mk V GTi as a station car which had diamond cut wheels which had to be refurbed because they’d gone milky. I was told by the refurb place to keep away from hand car wash places as they use cleaning chemicals that ruin alloy wheels…as well as the paint !

I would spend the money on sound over those chassis bits tbh. It’s never going to be a sports car and it’s most definitely not going to make any interesting sounds. But then I don’t listen to news or traffic so a bad sound system irritates me over and above pretty much anything else in a non-sports car. I have never heard a good Bose in-car system in Porsches or anywhere else so wouldn’t expect a lot there.

My home HiFi system cost far more than the Taycan and I do not consider a car a place for serious listening to music.
I am an engineer though, and know about the chassis side mods will help.
So we have opposite points of view there smile

When I drove the demo I was surprised how sporty it felt to me, it hid its bulk well. It was faster than the last 911 I drove but with a similar feel and much, much better throttle response than the 911 turbo I was disappointed by. It isn't a Ferrari (too big) but I was delighted by it overall for my use.

I have had diamond cut wheels discolour even washing myself with just water.
The sharp edge between the shiny and painted parts tends to end up with a very thin layer of lacquer when applied which breaks through after a while though how sharp it is probably very design dependant.

I have Bose in my CT4S with the acoustic glass, best stereo I've heard in a car by a long way. Not heard the Burmester but imagine it's a level about, however I struggle to justify £4k for a stereo in an environment where wind and tyre noise are aways present.

I have it and think that it is worth it for the the extra mode, compass on dash and quick dial mode selector. It should be standard on a drivers car like a Porsche in my opinion.

Seriously, that’s one HUGE rabbit hole.

IIRC my mate spent five figures on speaker cabling alone. And that was buying secondhand used too.
