Who seem to be the best insurer for Taycan’s? I’ve spoke to a couple and none are what I call cheap - plus they all want the Tracker activated which I guess is another £275 a year?

I’m mid 40s, clean license held for over 25yrs, no accidents or claims (9+ NCB which is actually about 25yrs but they all seem to stop counting at 9 now). Best quote I’ve had is £500, next best £800 and both of those are with a 1200 excess!

Any ideas, as at the mo I’m ready struggling to justify the purchase!

I’m with Aviva age 55 paying £370 approx (£308 for ten months)on a Taycan 4S no tracker. I have two cars on a multcar policy.

Given I’ve never had an accident or points or claim in over 25 years of driving, yes I think it’s expensive when you include I MUST have a tracker so that’s 500 plus 275ish is nearly £800. Given my Continental GT was sub £300, my A110 £250, my 430 Spider was £350ish. 911s etc for years, I’ve haven’t paid more than 400 in the last 10years (probably 40cars in total in that time) with the exception of my RRS which is ridiculous at about 700.

So yes I do think it’s expensive as it’s basically £800 and a massive excess.

Our company insurance wanted £2500 pa initially , dropped to £1350 after I complained . Big excess too .
But a couple of hundred a year surely isn’t a big deal ?

The tracker is a pain .

My vanquish insurance is £330 pa as a comparison

You could sell it at a profit thou 👍🏻

I'd shop around....though looking at 21ATS' experience on repairs on one of these, it wouldn't surprise me if premiums go up...

It is unknown if 21ATS's experience is specific to EV's - indeed someone on the same thread had a GT3 claim for £42k . This is how internet nonsense starts if we are not careful .

I’ve been online and had quite a lot of quotes come in - some over 2700 with 1k excess. It is concerning as if this is the start of a trend then resale prices will be hit hard - as an outright purchaser it does make me rather worried.

Quotes always have a large spread .

I do get the impression you are looking to either not buy or sell the car ….
How much did you spend on extras ?

It’s a used car at OPC. I’ve done quite a bit of research today on them and have decided to cancel the purchase. Too much of a ££££ risk for me given what I’ve read.

I’ve done a bit more research and there is an awful lot online about quality issues - 21ATS's experience is a major off put and seems farcical - not that I’m doubting him at all, I’ve had a lot of Porsche’s and his experience doesn’t come as a surprise.

I experienced the strange braking issue others have mentioned where it goes from soft to firm to soft within a two minute window which just doesn’t feel like a Porsche tbh.

The insurance cost is also a concern because it all adds up. At the beginning the man maths worked out ok, but now it’s going the other way.

The thing that really is a positive is I did the deal at sub 80k for a well specced 21plate car…….

I'm on my second Taycan and think they're truly brilliant ground breaking cars. I had a couple of issues with my first one which were quickly resolved by my OPC with software updates.

You're buying a 100k+ car outright and worried about a £500 insurance premium?

Sub 80. It’s more where the other premiums are tbh. That is the cheapest by a LONG way, the majority are 1200-1500, I’m thinking of 1yrs time when all may be considerably higher. Plus as I’ve mentioned, I’ve had cars over this value before but not had to pay that much - it just seems overly high to me in comparison to what I pay for my other cars.

A sub 80k Taycan?

There's always one insurer trying to win business. So I wouldn't worry about that.

Do you have multiple cars? Try a fleet policy.

A wife/partner? Add them.

A dad/mum? Ditto.

All can help.
