I imagine if a 911 is at a petrol station and another one turns up , there would at the very least be a wave or short exchange about their cars .That’s certainly what I found when I had a 911 .

Several times I’ve turned up at charging points in my Taycan and there has been another one already there .
I’ve never had any interaction with any other owners in this situation . Seems a bit odd .

I would class myself as an enthusiast. I love my Taycan and I'm always happy to chat to others about their cars, Porsche or otherwise.

I was on a rare trip to the mainland a few weeks ago and drove past the Starbucks in my 911 near the roundabout when it goes to Blandford / Poole & the caravan place is. Two prominent roadside chargers at Starbucks with a Gaycan in one and a Hi-Spec Hi-Tec Hyundai in the other - both owners having a really nice EV owner group hug. A rare moment of feeling superior for me.

Next time , stop and see if they can knock that massive chip off your shoulder - that would make your 911 a bit easier to drive .
Are you homophobic too ?

Still , take your rare moment whilst you can .

I bought one purely based on Tax incentive. I'd never been drawn to any Porsche product before or since.

So certainly from my perspective there was no brand enthusiasm whatsoever.

I have a modified 911 and a Taycan, so I guess I must be at least a little bit enthusiastic.

There will be a lot of Taycan’s sold, so I guess the proportion of ‘enthusiasts’ in the sense you’re talking about will be lower, but still they do exist. There have been lots of Taycan drives and meetings. I’ve come across one guy who’s done 16 track days in his Taycan Turbo S this year. He was particularly pleased with the car’s ability to stay out on track even when the rain was pouring down and other enthusiasts were left cowering in the paddock/garages with their GT3s/assorted exotica.

One other point is that many Taycan drivers will also have other vehicles more commonly associated with enthusiasts. However, there will clearly be plenty that just use them as a nice car to go shopping in. Much better than taking a Urus, which in my opinion isn’t enthusiastic at all.

How many 911 owners are "enthusiasts"?

I know there are enthusiasts who buy 911s, but they also seem to be the obvious choice for people who know little about cars but want something instantly recognisable. Kind of like the motoring equivalent of a Rolex Submariner. Very good choices, but a bit unimaginative.

My impression is that Taycan owners were broadly split in two…those that buy because of the tax angle or to keep themselves high on their OPC’s GT car list or those that buy it because it is one of the best EV’s out there. I guess the enthusiasts are in the latter half although given the tax deals maybe a few of them too smile

I’ve probably spent about a week behind the wheel of one via a couple of loan cars….I can see for some people it ticks every box but not for me, did want to buy one but cancelled my order.

interesting that you bring that into it - are you ? I think your commemt says more about you than me
a good mate used the term I used to describe his own car - homosexuality was the last thing on his mind when he came up with the nickname .
