Strange thread, seems the presumption is that all Porsche Ice owners are ‘enthusiasts’ but EV owners may not be. Two things; anyone who spunks money on a Taycan is looking for a bit more than pure functionality and de facto might just qualify as an enthusiast. Secondly, let’s talk manual v PDK, or 4WD against RWD. We’ve been here before many times and as far as I know we’ve never reached s verdict, live and live. The way it’s going we will all be non enthusiasts soon enough.

I daily my Taycan and would consider myself very much an enthusiast. I don’t really do public charging but when I do see another Taycan owners I usually assume they aren’t enthusiasts unless they are in similar high spec GTS or turbo etc which to be honest are unnecessary and would suggest they are an enthusiast.

Interesting perspective.

As noted in this thread earlier, I'm just not a Porsche fanboy but I liked the Taycan, it was the first EV that genuinely appealed to me. It didn't work out for us for a number of reasons (which actually weren't do do with the car per se but I've documented that elsewhere and it's irrelevant to this thread).

However, one of the reasons that drew us to these cars (after tax that is) was the strong likelyhood that money wouldn't be spunked at all. Infact I sold my car back to Porsche for more than we paid for it once we'd decided they weren't for us.

I replaced it with a Ferrari FF so I'm certainly what you'd consider a car enthusiast, just not a Porsche enthusiast.

You've got lucky with the Taycan I think, the battery problem and 1100 of them sitting at the bottom of the Atlantic have compounded all the other supply side problems and resulted in ridiculous waiting times (with no end in sight I cancelled), which has meant Porsche dealers asking, and paying, ridiculous money for used tackle, it won't last. I would count myself as an enthusiast (Ferrari's, Astons, Porsche etc) and I think the Taycan is an enthusiast's choice if electric is your thing, whether through choice or expedience.

For years I've listened to pub bores suggest that only a base Carrera will do, with the suggestion that Turbo owners with all the trick electrics and PDK are just poseurs, I don't buy it, but two of my favourite cars were a standard 993 back in th day (on 17inch rims) and a 355 Fiorano, both devoid of driver aids with manual gearboxes, how I miss them!
