I wonder why you didn’t get free servicing? It comes standard with all Polestars.

Slight difference…Porsche is an aspirational brand with heritage, making a car with long waiting lists and rock solid residuals. Polestars are basically unheard of to most people, have virtually no dealers, and most people wouldn’t even notice one on the street. There’s a reason Porsche make huge profits.

My response was to another Polestar owner smile

Nothing to do with Polestar V Porsche.

Seems legacy car company thinking - they seem petrified about how they will keep expensive franchises going.

An EV has very few things to go wrong with it. My Polestar is going in soon and the cost is zero as it is included for the first three years. Been thinking about the new Macon EV compared to the Polestar 4 - based on the above I think I will stay loyal to Polestar.
Hyundai EVs - I had an Ioniq 38kw 2021 model for a short while. Had I kept it until it was 4 years old, the 4th service at 40k miles/4 years would have been £520! That's because it involves changing the battery coolant.

Apparently someone got a quote for the 4 year service on a Kona EV and it's £662 including the battery coolant

Apart from the 4 year service, Hyundai seem to be quite reasonable on the annual service costs (between £65-£150) depending upon the interval.

Are these prices you have actually been charged, or you read them somewhere (and if so where?) Cheers.
I have copies of the invoices sent to Hitachi who my firm lease the car off. Stuck them in the service book wallet for the next owner.
I wonder why you didn’t get free servicing? It comes standard with all Polestars.

No idea, must just be the deal Hitachi have with them. Maybe the free services only applies if leasing directly off Polestar or Private / Business purchases? Once the likes of Hitachi, Leaseplan and the other big fleet providers are involved, different deals are available. Or maybe the dealership still bill out and it gets credited somewhere. Who knows.

My wife’s Zoe was only £90 for its first service. Second was FOC as the garage massively screwed up a recall and it was off the road for 3 months.

That’s on 30k miles now, 2.5 years old, tyres all still good. We lease that privately. Lease company wanted £40/month for maintenance. Glad we said no.

So Renault, Hyundai and Polestar are all around £75 to £150 for a standard 1st /. 2nd service. Porsche are £750-£1,250.

Yeah, Porsche are aspirational, I know, I ran a 992 until about a year ago. But if you ask my kids, I’m old school, aspirational to them is Tesla, Polestar, Lucid etc.

But don’t get me wrong, I’d love a Taycan, did have a go in one, a 4S, fab bit of kit, but only if my employer was paying, including all the extras on the spec sheet hehe

Tesla is modern aspirational without a doubt, but that's the Elon affect. I'd suggest most kids would have no clue about Polestar or Lucid just like most adults.

Think you'd be surprised on the Polestar front, from my limited circle of friends kids, they all seem to know exactly what a Polestar is and want a go in it, and I'd extend that to the early 20-somethings at work. Then Rimac and then Rivian, my two know exactly what one of those is. Definitely the Elon effect, Porsches in their world are a bit pipe and slippers. My two were far more impressed with the Polestar than the 992 and you're right, they'd have been even more impressed with a white Model 3 Performance.

One of our neighbours has just got an XC40 Recharge as a company car, not sure exactly which model. His wife said its really nice, but wish they could have had a Polestar instead. WTF, it's the same car, with a slightly gawky weird less practical body stuffed on it. Go figure.

Sure is a different world to when I grew up thinking about 964's, 993's and 996's and of course the legendary 2.8i Capri

Would agree although my adult children don’t like Tesla as they consider Elon as a bit of a throbber. Porsche is still
“Cool” or whatever word is used this week for stuff like GT3s etc but seen as a bit ostentatious.

Polestar are the new SAAB with less scuttle shake.

Just been estimated £1200 from the Silverstone OPC - I remember trying to get the figure out of them when I bought the car and no one had an answer but the feeling was it'd be inline with other Porsches. Well that's more than twice as much as our Macan so excellent smile

They probably have to charge extra to cover the costs of all the breakdowns and recalls these things seem to have.

Has anyone asked what they do for £1200.00?

I went to book mine in at 17500 as the dash is telling me a service is soon needed. Had to rebook for jam as polestar won’t pay if it is below 18000
Well you’re trying to preserve the service history, so…;)

2 years or 20,000 miles – brake fluid replacement, pollen, and air filter replacement, wiper blades, and windshield wiper fluid checked.

The additional costs are drainage checks and removing and replacing the wheel liners front and back

Which is what? Putting the air line to the drain holes? A 1 minute job.

£1200 for a service! You are paying that for basically a pollen filter , some chap to look at your pads and making sure the drainage holes are clear. Honestly, the technicians doing it must be laughing at you while you are sat having a coffee waiting. The fact Audi charge £400 for basically the same car ( which is also taking the P@@@) and the best people can come up to defend it is that it’s a aspirational vehicle. Lol

I think bodywork has to be removed for access, together with labour rates at @£250 p/h you start to get the picture. Dealers rely on servicing revenues and EV’s present something of a problem, so I guess some imagination is required. There’s actually much chat in the Taycan forum about drainage checks, the advice seems to be to shop around, some dealers are much more reasonable and many will inspect and decide no work necessary. In the end, if you buy a Porsche you should be fully braced, I always take my own pillow when I go in for a service.

Lol £250/h to check some drainage, replace a pollen filter, and wash the car. Actually I shouldn’t be laughing as I’m going to pay £400 or whatever it is for the same BS where maybe £50 is the appropriate amount for their checking of the vehicle to identify upsell opportunities.

All I'm hoping for is that I can buy one of those unserviced Taycan's dirt-cheap second hand from an OPC with 80,000 miles on the clock. Although something tells me that the dealer will tell me that mechanically they don't need servicing so there is no risk involved, which is why it is the same price as all the serviced ones on the forecourt.
