Slightly concerning this to read about, is it as common as it appears?

Neighbour (who works for a Porsche dealership) says it was mainly on the early cars (2020-2021) models? Is this the case ?

Any comments would be appreciated as I really want one of these, but not if there is an underlying serious problem with them.

I think it’s also affecting recently-built cars - I think I read about a new car having been delivered to the dealer, but where the heater failure was identified as part of the PDI, so unable to be delivered.

My car was originally due at the dealers on 28th March, now been delayed until 2nd May, presumably due to the Heater issues.

It hasn’t happened to me yet after 2 years.

At my PEC (West London) in Jan there were more Taycans in service that I had ever seen - all in for a preventative heater recall.

Mine's a 2022 - and has been reliable up to now (3,000 miles in).

24k miles on my 4S and it had the heater fail around September last year (2021) model.

My business partner had his fail just before Christmas. Collection/fix/return was pretty quick though and a Porsche courtesy car was given.

My new Turbo S is at the dealer now (14 month wait, collection Friday) and it looks like I got lucky as my business partner has been told that his had arrived in the country only to be sent back again (thousands affected we're told) as they're using heaters from production to fix warranty issues on existing cars. His collection date was originally similar to mine but he's now been told it could be July.

To say he's annoyed is an understatement!

Roll on Friday!

My Taycan is 3 years old and Ive had 3 heater failures. My car is now 1 month out of warranty and Porsche are pushing back on honouring the repair!

My advice is dont touch a Taycan until Porsche ackonwledge this issue is a manufacturer problem and they will honour repairs.

Utter disgrace - Audi-style cowboy behaviour. Avoid at all cost.

Sue them ... letter from solicitor to Reading advising intention to take action ... this is a well known fault and as per the EU extends the warranty period. Check it out ??

I honestly find this difficult to believe….. I also find it difficult to believe you wouldn’t take an extended warranty on something as complex as a Taycan given its relatively inexpensive (£1,110)?

As far as I am aware ALL Taycans manufactured before Feb 2023 are to be called in for an upgraded heater. If yours has been replaced before this date - as many have - you will not have the latest spec one and will be called in again, if you haven't been already.

Just spoken to my neighbour who bought a 2021 Taycan 4S a few months ago.
Told me his car was broken - another heater failure. This apparently will be the third heater as the first replacement was supposed to fix the problem.
Dealer told him the problem seems to happen when the weather is cold!
Not sure if the heater heats the cabin or preheats the batteries (don’t laugh, I haven’t researched it) but surely they’re not fit for purpose whichever circumstance?

My 4S is March 2021 and has had no heater problems.

Interestingly it’s in for a small job and they’ve phoned me to say that the air con module has had some warranty work (first I’d heard of it) and was now not working. They suspect that the replacement parts are faulty.

I did ask if it’s the well know heater problem that they were referring to and they said yes. Anyway, my fault free heater has been replaced to the new version and had immediately failed. Never mind, hopefully back next week.

Taycan 2021 owned from new. Having already had a new seat (motor failed - waited 4 weeks) and air con (waited two months in summer) the heater has now completely died. I rang and the dealer said it had been recalled but I have not received a letter or email. For once I am being given a courtesy new Macan - first courtesy car I have ever had in two years of ownership. Are the parts now available as there is an official recall or is there still a long wait?
