What's the verdict from enthusiastic drivers driving "avec exuberance" on challenging back roads in a Sandero or a Logan?
Expect body roll, lots of body roll, but I used to throw my old Stepway about quite a bit, once your used to the limits can be lots of fun near them, but it's never going to be a RS / GTi etc
My reference for family cars is Ford.

Maybe a Clio rear anti roll bar would fit.

Duster definitely isn’t built for speed - I don’t know why you’d expect it to be either though

Does anybody expect a Duster to be about speed?

As said before, I'm sorely tempted but the 10 min test drive in a diesel version around busy residential streets was nowhere near what I needed to be convinced.

I need a day, preferably in the petrol version, like I get when interested in a motorcycle.

Anyone know anywhere that rents them out?

Does anyone expect a Sandero or Logan? Mk2 Clio wasn’t exactly known for performance apart from the 172/182 which was heavily modified

I can only say what I've said before about my experiences. Duster is really great for rough roads, rocks, tracks and river crossings. Around town, the (4x4) very low first gear would be a pain if you couldn't start in 2nd. The diesel engine isn't wonderful. It was quite fun to drive in its own way, but getting back into my Mk4 Mondeo and our Mk6 Fiesta (both fairly old) felt very pleasant in comparison.

Pointless excercise as you can't get a petrol anymore.

Does that mean my Duster is super rare now like those limited number supercars?

I’ll sell it to you for £20,000 croyde

Are you talking about the Duster? The Dacia UK website shows it's available with a 1.6 normally aspirated (115PS) or a 1.2 Turbo petrol (125PS) as well as the 1.5 Diesel (110PS). They would be insane to remove petrol options right now.

Ok just this morning/overnight, a load of extra Dusters have become visible; just over 1000, petrol and diesel, various specs.

I've had two Dusters as hire cars, both diesel 4x4s. The first was brand new with studded tyres in Iceland, the second (in Morocco) had 100k on the clock and a slow puncture. I did over 1000 miles each and both were across fairly challenging terrain - fording frozen rivers and unmade roads in Iceland, and heading over the Atlas mountains in Morocco - and they did everything they needed to. The 1.5 dci engine isn't the most inspiring but they are, really, surprisingly fun to drive.

Like many I've been keeping an eye on second hand values in the hope I can replace my sheddy old V70 with one fairly soon, but it appears I may have to wait a while...!

Why on earth would they stop selling the petrol just as we are being told that diesel is evil and if you buy one you'll be punished financially.

First of all there is a new Duster on the horizon, Dacia built a load of current ones for stock then they have to shut the factory down to re-tool for the new one so at some point the current one will run out, they haven't "stopped building" the petrol, they had stopped building current Duster!

Anyway as I mentioned above, just over 1000 have appeared; various specs and engines (including petrol), these are coming through in April, I would imagine this is the last batch until the new one appears.

Does my head in, I've been turning people away "nope sorry, unable to get a petrol now as they've all sold and no more are being produced due to the new one that is being launched in the summer"

Is the new one going to be a completely different car with a price rise to match?

Answered my own question.

Looks like it's going up market. Don't see the point as that's what the Renault and Nissan models are for.

Depends what the price tag will be - the vast majority of the current model sold are probably up spec diesels....
