As a Renault/Dacia dealer, we cannot get enough used Stepway Laureate TCe's, they are a licence to print money and they hold their money too.
Has there ever been any talk of a petrol duster auto? 4x2 is fine but as i do minimal mileage i guess the duster dci edc is not for me,im not bothered about diesels being penalised just the dpf issues.

Otherwise i am holding out for the new revised jimny

Current Duster no as it has now come to an end, new one I don't know, however the 1.5 dCi doesn't have DPF issues.

As a Renault/Dacia dealer can you explain why it's so bloody hard to pin a salesman down to sell a Duster van?

A couple of guys have got the Sandero in my work, proper basic spec models with the black plastic bumpers. Very cheap to buy though. Brand new they are about 6 grand aren't they? Even cheaper if you can find one that's a year or two old. Cheap motoring for a new car. Basically made out of old Clio bits and is based on the Clio platform so should generally be pretty reliable too.

Not my cup of tea, personally, but good for some people out there that want something cheap, functional and new.

Ah, not alot of activity on that forum any more since DaciaWorld was started 18 months ago.

Can say with hand on heart that I've heard of very few issues (if any) amongst the owners on DW.

Dacia convert here.

Used to drive Merc E320 cdi (S211) model and loved it. With my mileage going up to 30k per year, and a young family to provide for I did the maths and sold the merc and bought a Dacia.

This was summer 2015. I bought a '63 plate Logan MCV with 20k on the clock for £6000. Before there were many Dacias out there. It's now touching 70k and WBAC offered my £5 for it! Can't complain at that.

My spec for a car was:
Estate (kid / dog)
Roof rails - I carry bikes /roofboxes / canoes etc so wanted fixed rails to attach my bars to
Cruise / Bluetooth - Only looked for the Laureate model
Towing Ability
Diesel

With that spec I was only interested in the 1.5dci laureate model, and found one at a toyota dealer approx 50 miles away. Did the deal same day, bought it cash and sold the merc a few days later. Bought a Witter Fixed flange towbar off PF James for £60, fitted it myself with bypass relay (At that time no wiring guides available online, so took some trial and error - can supply detailed wiring guide now if anyone interested)

Since then I've paid nothing in road tax. Driven approx 50,000 miles. Average from Road Trip App - 64.8mpg. Towed a heavy trailer a lot, carried BIkes and roofboxes and dogs, and kids. Its fitted wiht 4 snow tyres at present and was brilliant in the recent snow (I live in rural scotland, and didn't get stuck.

Problems since Summer 2015:

When i bought it the seat rails for the drivers seat were stuck - fixed by Dacia under warranty
The boot release cable jammed open when release mechanism was full of crap from the dog - cleaned out, lubed up and fine now

Nothing else.

It's not particularly refined, not quiet at speed, but it's the cheapes motoring you can find, doesn't go wrong, and parts are cheap when it does. Comfy enough and does everything I need it to. Seems to be holding it's value remarkably too.

No complaints from me. Cheap / cheerful motoring leaving money to have a few toys / holidays etc. would buy another in a flash!

Probably because no one had one.

When did you enquire?

Yep I've never heard of DPF issues on the 1.5 and I've been selling Renault since 2002; my colleague's wife has always had 1.5's and the majority of her driving is school runs, work, running the kids about locally etc, all stop start and low miles.

Just incase you're looking to sell at some point, i'd be happy to better their offer and give you a tenner for it. wink

I thought I was going to have the same problem buying a base model Duster (car) but it was fairly straightforward...

It is amazing how many dealers or salesmen out there who try and avoid Dacia, as the margins are so small, generally the commission on a Dacia is poor, particularly the base spec Duster and Sandero as the margin is only 3%.

I have sold Dacia to people who have literally been told "we don't sell them here", it seems to be a case of if they can supply it now then they will sell it, if it is a factory order then they aren't interested.

Me; I see every sale as an opportunity, sure I may not earn a great deal, however there can the possibility for extras, also if someone has had a good experience they will tell their friends, Dacia's are generally easier to sell than Renault, plus each Dacia registration is another registration towards my target, I could turn someone away from buying a base Sandero and that could be the one car that resulted in me missing my target and losing out on a fair chunk of money.

A couple of dealers I have visited have been surprised that I want the basic Access model. They try to put me off saying it'll be a 4 to 5 month wait.

Shame cos if they had had one in the showroom I would have slapped my bankcard down.

Just looked on their site and it looks like the interior of the access has changed, not so low rent compared to the other models, but price is still £9500.

It also has emergency brake assist. Probably to get the NCAP rating up.

The next model up is £1500 more.

It has body coloured bumpers but I prefer the base plastic ones, a radio, 60/40 split rear seat and a height adjustable driver's seat.

Oh and different wheels but then again, I prefer the base steel ones.

Certainly not worth £1500 extra when you can buy a radio for a few quid. Get someone to fit something a bit special and it's still only around a couple of hundred pounds.

Toaster, how much is it costing you to retro fit the OEM one.

I'm now on my second Dacia (just over 24hrs ago), this time a Logan Stepway Summit, really impressed so far.

Which engine did you go for? My wife bought a Logan MCV Laureate with a baby 0.9L Turbo to replace her ancient Octavia estate and it's not a bad car at all. It's well equipped (Nav, cruise control, reverse sensors etc.), comfortable, economic and has a massive load space, it actualy feels larger than the Octavia. On the downside the interior plastics are fairly nasty, there's a gap between the centre console tray and the dash which swallowed her parking card!

My old stepway lost less than 4K off its list price from new in just under 4 years.

Very very cheap worry free motoring.
