I posted similar in the other Jogger thread.

I have the 100 bhp 3cyl 999cc engine in my Duster and even fully loaded up it does 38mpg in stop start gridlock London traffic, 45 to 50mpg on a run and even hit 62mpg driving carefully and cruise on 50mph on the motorway for a 120 mile trip.

Had it since Feb '21 and have done 10,000 miles.

Pretty good for a petrol and I'm heavy footed and never get the mpg quoted by the manufacturers.
The 1ltr Duster that I had never got out of the 30s mpg
Ours does mid 40s light traffic short journeys.

Hugo, is yours always in heavy traffic. I'm surprised at your low mpg.

Is it an earlier 1.0? Was there one?

Test drove one yesterday, really impressed. The engine is actually quite decent...took it for a spin up the M3.

Couple of points, some of the interior is very basic e.g. glovebox. Electronic handbrake was simple to use. Lane change warning thingy worked well. Access to the third row easy for a grown up.

Only issue for me (three kids, wife and a dog) is that the 2nd row isn't that wide. I could just about fit 3 high back boosters (two Britax Discovery seats and a Maxi Cosi Rodi Air Protect). Bit of a ball ache though as you need to shove the edge seat out the door while you strap the middle one in.

Have ordered a £21 Asda Harmony seat to replace the Maxi Cosi which will give me another 5.5cm to play with. Will go back re-test later in the week.

Want it to work as it's such a bargain! This or a 50000 miler C4 Grand Picasso without warranty, with a higher PCP rate...crackers.

Looking at the Extreme SE in white with extra wheel, but given that might extend the delay...I'm not so sure now. Dealer is quoting Oct/Nov but said last month's orders are coming through in just over 4 months.

Wait, am I on Mumsnet?!

I like the look of these but the lack of engine/gearbox choices just rules them out for me.

If they had more powerful engine choices and the ability to do auto options, I would probably pop down for a test drive.

I spoke to a couple of dealers yesterday. There appears to be delays for extreme models. I ordered mine 11th March and only found out yesterday that my car is scheduled to be built beginning of September. Comforts which were ordered 4 weeks after mine are expected to arrive mid June. Both dealers said the same thing, they won't be getting any extremes until late Aug even though customers ordered them in March.

There must be business reasons for the lack of choice.

It is apparently quite torquey, but would be a bit more appealing if it had a more sustained pull to, say, 130+ bhp.

You are all beginning to miss the point

If you have lots of fancy options of more power, auto gearboxes etc they will cease to be cheap utility cars and end up being just another bloated modern car with a price tag to match

Absolutely, which is exactly why I ordered my Sandero Stepway in Essential spec with Glacier White paint.

I don't want a touch screen that already looks dated and will look comically old in five years time. On the essential model there is a place to hold your mobile phone which will no doubt do a better job than the old looking tablet glued to the dash anyway. I don't want a poor quality reversing camera and I really don't need parking sensors.

I don't want an automatic handbrake or auto unlocking doors, I actually prefer an actual handbrake and key as there is less to go wrong. I don't want diamond cut alloys, the flex wheels do a very good impression of alloy wheels with the benefit of just replacing the wheel trim if they get ruined.

I have had auto lights and wipers in the past and find they never come on at the right time and I constantly override them.

The only thing that is slightly annoying is manual windows in the back and manual mirror adjustment. But ultimately I rarely have anyone in the back and I cannot remember the last time I had to adjust my mirrors anyway.

The automatic version is over 2 seconds slower to 60 and who knows what reliability will be like ten years down the line. The manual 6 speed gearbox is shared with the Clio so if it goes wrong it should be cheap to get a replacement.

I plan on keeping this forever, less features means less to go wrong and should hopefully mean it will be more reliable.

I guess everyone decided the Extreme SE was worth the extra tenner a month over the comfort, and they ran out of alloys!!

It's getting crazy now, seems like every time I look Dacia have increased the price on one of their cars. I assume if you order before Friday the price will be honoured?

Out of interest, on the Dacia website it says "Prices and offers shown are available on specified new vehicles when ordered between 1st April 2022 - 30th June 2022 and registered & financed by 30th September 2022."

As it is highly unlikely that anybody is going to get their car before the end of September, does that mean the 5.9% APR finance rate and 2 free services might not actually be honoured?

Normally orders are price protected as well as finance deals as long as they are ordered in the time frames.

Just WhatsApp'd my work group asking about this as I'm off today, my manager has come back to me saying that Sandero, Stepway and Jogger go up tomorrow, I've replied asking by how much, he's not responded yet!

There's an article in this weeks Economist quoting Renault's CFO. Renault predicted raw material costs would double in 2022, now they expect them to triple. Since Dacia's prices are low compared to other brands they probably don't have much "wiggle room" to absorb increasing costs.

Different product but our preferred bagels until recently were nearly always on special offer for a pound. Offers disappeared few weeks ago and price was £1.70. Just gone back on offer at £1.25. It isn't just metal/energy prices that have risen substantially, lots of soft commodities have as well.

I have a 1.3 Auto Duster and there is more than enough power for most people, it fact it feels more like a 2 litre.

Yep, our area Renault and Dacia rep mentioned recently that steel had doubled in price.

As I have said in numerous threads, prices of second hand cars are going to rise because the price of new cars is going to massively rise. In the time between me first hearing about the Stepway and eventually ordering one the price increased from £11,495 to £12,995 in a year. Now it sounds like it is going to increase again tomorrow.

The base Jogger was £14,995 when it was announced and then quickly rose to £15,395 and it sounds like that is also going to increase be a further £1K tomorrow.

Anyone who bought a Dacia in the past year is quids in as they can sell it for more than they actually paid for it. Absolutely crazy situation, hence why I am hoping the price of my car is honoured and it eventually turns up so I can stop thinking about this.
