Gus Greensmith crashed and was stuck in the car for a few minutes. Marshals didn't go near the car and stopped spectators from helping because there was no green light from the hybrid system lit up on the car.

Greensmith wasn't happy at the marshals staying away. "You had one fking job!"

Longer clip of the marshals keeping people away.

I'm not familiar with the detail of the hybrid regs but if there was no green light then surely they did their one job just fine?

Rain coming in now.. this could get messy.

Edit:
According to this the light was green, in which case he's every right to feel aggrieved.

Just shows how unsuitable these high voltage systems are for rallying.

If this system means marshals wont help crews, it needs banning.

It doesn't actually, it does highlight a lack of training and understanding of the marshals involved.

As expected, a 1-2-3-4 result for Toyota, with another win for Kalle. Helps when the opposition self-destructs; Hyundai's break down on normal events, how are they going to last a Safari (even a modern version), and M-Sport are what you expect; making up the numbers....

Car is on fire, system is showing live, driver is trapped. What do you do?

Relating to the Greensmith incident it appears to be a lack of understanding by the marshals.

It probably was, that doesn't negate the point.

The honest answer is I don't know. But what I will say having seen the latest WRC cages and battery cell protection the chances of that scenario occurring are very remote.

Clusterfk by the marshals , and the FIA agree . However as posted about the chances of a car catching fire are not very remote, only takes long grass/hot exhaust or fractured fuel line and bingo . Situations like this need addressing pronto .

Your original question was about the car on fire crew trapped and the battery system showing red and that is what I responded to.

Not my question confused.I'm just alarmed that in the present day WRC where H&S prevails the marshals aren't adequately trained on how to deal with incidents , especially when lives could be dependent on their responses .

Watching highlights on ITV4. What's going on with the Hyundai's constantly flashing headlights?

Having just caught up on the Safari rally, I have to ask the question: has there ever been a more disastrous decision in motorsport than Tanak quitting Toyota for Hyundai? I just can't get my head around it...

The personality clash with Makinen - and his manager (Markko Martin) had a fall out over another issue.....

He was the reigning world champion, so wanted paying like a world champion, Hyundai was the only place to go.
