Not surprising news, but still disappointing. MSUK hoping for Bobby Willis to find a magic money tree; going by the North West 200 and Ulster GP, if it's a golf tournament, he'd have a chance.

I'm not massively interested in a rally in NI.Forest roads around the UK, or may be a mixed surface event, but having an event in Ireland is basically like having an event in Belgium to most British speccies.
No, in all honesty our round of the WRC should be a forest event, with maybe some tarmac stages as spectator friendly stages. However, we can't even run the event at all, even as a national/ BRC event. It's gone....just like that.....epic mismanagement.
I would like to see an Irish WRC event, but again, it's up to them to fund it.

Would be fantastic for NI to have a WRC round, classic decent length stages over 3 days with hospitality like only the Irish can do . Read/watch reports on the recent Donegal Rally if in doubt. Certain that Willis will leave no stone unturned looking for finance and good luck to him .

Northern Ireland is part of the uk….
No way, who'd have thought......I'm not sure I've said otherwise. However, I've consistently said I feel the UK round of the WRC should be a forest based event on the mainland......that is what the history of the event is.There are no backers (which is no great surprise) , so MSUK are hoping for Bobby to find a magic money tree so they can run it on Tarmac in Northern Ireland....
I would also like to see a return of Rally Ireland, as in 2007/09...but I suspect they have no money to fund it either.

isn't one of the issues, that the cost to run an RAC rally in the UK forests, is multiples of the cost to run a WRC event in another country. I.e. forestry commission hire charges have in some way killed the event?

I'll go out on a limb and say.....
The next time a WRC event happens in the British Isles, it will be in an Independent Scotland. My reasons for saying that are:
The next time a WRC event happens in the British Isles, it will be in an Independent Scotland. My reasons for saying that are:
- A newly-Independent Scotland will have the desire to host world-scale events, so central funding may be available.
- There is already a fully-functional sporting/visitor events funding and delivery body (Event Scotland).
- The topography of the country lends itself to both forest and closed-road rallying, and there is a strong track record of both.
- There are plenty of suitable host venues (Service Park etc) with good road and air connections.
- Scotland successfully hosted the IRC Rally of Scotland, so there is a recent track record of delivering events of this scale.
- The organisational capability still exists in the sport and in Scotland.

ERC Rally Liepaja this weekend.
Watched most of it, enjoyable enough. Bit of added value to WRC+ subscription that it covers ERC as well.Useful test event for Paddon before doing WRC2 Estonia and Finland - brand new car they picked up the day before the rally with zero testing, the first time he drove it in anger was the qualifying stage. Car looked a right handful especially the first day with no base setup to start from, so his pace was pretty good considering that. He lost 38s getting the car restarted after a spin on Stage 3, but times were on track for the podium aside from that.

That's just about the only positive thing I've ever heard about Scottish Independence! Hope it happens... oh hang on, perhaps not. The next time a WRC event happens in the British Isles, it will be in an Independent Scotland. My reasons for saying that are:

Hell will freeze over before that happens. But that is very much a discussion for an entirely different message board... The next time a WRC event happens in the British Isles, it will be in an Independent Scotland. My reasons for saying that are:

I suspect Event Scotland are behind the World Cycling Championships next August; when we see the first multi discipline championships. I suspect that is a better bang for buck than an International rally brings in. In fact, there were rumours about a Yorkshire ERC/IRC round, backed by Welcome to Yorkshire.....didn't happen. Instead the Tour de France 'Grand Depart' was brought over - one would say they made the right decision.
I recall the IRC Rally Scotland, lasted 3 years and didn't continue - not helped by small entries, especially from UK drivers. Which was a shame as it got live TV, and was in some fantastic stages. I went the first year in 2009, and saw the debut of the new Ford Fiesta S2000 as a course car.

The certainly are:https://www.visitscotland.org/events/major-events
But they also support rallying with some significance - e.g. Mull Rally, McRae Challenge, Argyll Rally.
The Rally Of Scotland, from what I understand, was instigated by private entrepreneurs / promotors who went to Event Scotland (and other supporters) and IRC with a proposal. This is the "Bobby Willis" model, and it's the only way it'll ever bring WRC back to these shores. But as you say, return on investment doesn't look good for rallying.
Is anyone else unable to log into the WRC app? I just set up a new Fire TV stick and the usual profile icon in the top right where you sign in is missing. If I click on a wrc+ video it brings up a log in prompt but when I click it nothing happens.
I watched todays stages on my older stick as I was already signed into it, but now I cant log in. I also missed all of stage 8 because their live stream crapped out as usual.

Hyundai sounded different this weekend new exhaust maybe, sounded more gruff, also they were using weird cut-outs in the back bumper and the odd car was also using those weird little packets in the front grill area, that I still have no idea what their purpose is? I thought they might be spots, but I don't think so, could they be ballast packets?
