Does anyone know about the event announced at Croft?

I have a season pass so am going to down, will be the last racing I see this year, never actually been to a rally before.
It's attracted a lot of crews & known names - Unseeded entry https://www.rallies.info/webentry/2022/winter/entr...https://www.croftcircuit.co.uk/racing/winter-stage...

Rally Japan on this weekend. It's a tarmac rally this time.
First real stage tonight and it was 23 KM of corner after corner, I really liked it so far. I was thinking it looked like the toughest test of the hybrids so far given it works off the brakes. Absolutely no time for the brakes or system to cool
And so it has proved, Kalle has something smoking in the car and Sordos car has just gone up in flames, it has burned to the ground and crew OK!

The terrain looks really intense - quickfire corners, narrow, no cuts.First real stage tonight and it was 23 KM of corner after corner, I really liked it so far. The ghost in Isegamis tunnel clearly took issue with the noisy gits in rally cars disturbing him. When the wall of dust wasn't enough he set one on fire for some peace and quiet!
I was interested to see that Matthew Higgins son of David Higgins ( of DHiggins MHiggins fame) has chosen a career in sports cars over rallying. I guess that’s the reality of motorsport , if you want any chance of a professional career rallying is not where you look. Even with the experience of a driver like David Higgins.

You can't blame him; far more opportunities as a racing driver, and a possibility to change series. Look at Stig's son Tom - started as a single seater driver, and has since gone through DTM, GTs, Formula E, Sportscars; and has won some big races/ series. How many paid seats are there in rallying? A handful at best.....Alister McRae's son Max is in the early stages of his career, but it won't be easy - and the added problem of being from down under; the name will only take him so far.
Carlos would not be an f1 driver without his fathers influence much like Max, his early career was heavily funded by money from Spain. Nothing wrong with that, but being a son gets you several legs up. Matthew Wilson was clearly not WRC level but was there for years, happily Elfyn is maybe better than his Dad who never really go the breaks he perhaps deserved, as has Kalle and Harri certainly did get some good breaks and perhaps did not make the best of them.
but the fact you can name so many in the last few decades shows how much of a leg up being a son is once you get to a certain level talent has to be there, Anton Alen, Max Vatanen both got nowhere

And in unsurprising news, M-Sport/ Craig Breen announce they are splitting.

Those pages are busy as they're full of rally folk whereas Pistonheads has around 10-20 people are interested in rallying.
One more albeit from Australia, couldn't resist Apologies for butting in, interesting news Breen is going to Hyundai... will be interesting to watch, that! As a Ford enthusiast WRCs been hard watching this year.
