Maybe company owned, if you’re near the wilderness they might be there for endurance testing new parts etc.
About an hour outside Melbourne.

The only thing they’d be testing out here is if the cup holders can manage a large skinny latte biggrin

It went on sale at the end of May so 600 in a few months seems ok? It's never going to be any kind of volume seller being a specialist toy and they were only targeting a few thousand a year for the U.K.? Quite a sizeable percentage sitting for sale though?

I think the sales targets were pretty conservative. Which bodes well for the viability of the programme. This has some relevant info https://www.sitecore.com/customers/automotive/ineo...

I went on that site before asking the question. Looked like a load of marketing hyperbole. Seemed to be a trumpet blowing exercise about pre orders. I hope it can remain in production and is a moderate success. I’m thinking of creating a French Cheese in Birmingham. I’ll call it FromBrum.

They talked publicly and to customers about 30,000 cars a year globally. They are limited in the number of "car" derivatives (not commercials) they can sell in the UK I think to 1500 cars because of emmissions. So if you said double that volume for commercials, I'd imagine somewhere in region of 4000 - 4500 Grenadiers might be the UK target or 15% of global sales...which does seem quite a lot year after year.

Agreed about trumpet-blowing - obviously intended to promote their product / services. However some of the information seems to be useful.

There seem to have been quite a lot of Defender Hard Top sales. Defenders overall are selling at around 100k pa right now in the UK. Can Ineos take a few % of the Defender's market? Doesn't seem an unreasonable aspiration, TBH.

I placed an early refundable deposit on one of these and changed my mind when i discovered it wasn’t classed as commercial for BIK.

Now that there are quite a few available second hand I’m thinking about buying one personally rather than through the company.

Most are still being advertised around the new price - or what the new price would have been, it’s surprising how many there are for sale (people disappointed?) but the advertised prices don’t seem to be dropping much.

Any guesses when we’ll see the first station wagons around the £50k mark? Next year?

Trialmaster
Safari windows
Cloth interior
Donny grey
Steel wheels

Would be my perfect version. That’s £80k new now and no way to get vat back rolleyes

I also placed a refundable deposit, but pulled it when the new prices & the specs came out.

My ideal vehicle would be a base spec Utility Wagon with the rear seat position of the Station Wagon - plus safari windows. I'm not interested all the other Station wagon addons.

I think you can move the seat on the utility wagon to the position it’s in on the station wagon.

Apart from the rear windows what are the other differences?

IIRC I actually think solid panels are an option on the station wagon and windows an option on utility wagon.

You might be right, but when I viewed a Fieldmaster I was told that they were fixed into the forward position - I lost interest immediately and thought I'd just wait until a non "special" edition version of the Station Wagon came out.

You can move the seats, it's just bolts, there are pictures and explanations on Facebook. The Utility wagons have seats about 7.5cm further forwards and a little more up-right than the Belstaff versions.

If you start with a Utility wagon and move the seats, the trim will show a chunk of bare metal, (I don't care, but one ex-owner had a hissy fit and sold his Grenadier for a small profit), and you cannot refit the luggage guard as the brackets no longer fit. So far there are no alternative brackets in the aftermarket, but I suggest this is only a matter of time.

Legally, moving the seats would change the vehicle excise class, but the chances of anyone in authority noticing is small.

Thanks for that info - brings a Grenadier back into my view - although not for another few years now having bought a Mazda 6, so need to get value out of that first.

Evo not impressed

But it seems unfair comparing it to modern SUV’s.

Compare it to live axled g-wagens or 70-series land cruisers.

Damn, I must have the wrong car then, mine is not represented by this review.

Odd it was a completely on-road review.

They’ve already reviewed it off road and mentioned that in this review (and how good it was).

Me and some mates are doing an off road test day with Ineos this Friday and I can’t wait. Hopefully the weather will be awful!

I’ll be arriving in my new defender however that I actually can run as my company vehicle.
