Engine in and Rocket been away to Road Track Race in Nottingham to have custom exhaust made:

Very very pleased with the results. Exhaust is now off again to be ceramic coated. Should be back in a week.

Bl00dy hell are you planning on bolting a Procharge F2 on there?!?! lol
lol. The bracket has been made by Rotrex, so who am I to argue !! The bracket acually does a lot. It has to hold the supercharger (obviously), altenator, 3 jocky wheels, tensioner and acts as the new engine mount (replacing old engine mount) to make a nice neat arangement - so has to be solid. As you can appreciate for it all to work correctly without continiously recking belts or loosing BHP through slipage or miss-alignment, this was the best engineered route without having somthing hideous or several brackets.

That is a nice looking car you got there should fly when you get it on the road. MEV are making some very nice looking and very affordable kits, the sonic 7 and the X5 are the best of the lot i think wouldn't miind building a mev x5 that looks fantastic.
The Sonic is what got me initially interested in the MEV vehicles and still like it alot - but opted for the Rocket in the end. Stuart/RTR and the MEV team are doing wonders for the brand and are continiously moving forward with ideas and supporting MEV owners with fantastic events. My opinion obviously, but very happy that I chose the Rocket and an MEV vehicle.

Bit more progress made over the last few weeks:

Wing mirrors fitted. Decided to opt for units with side repeaters. May be OK for IVA but easy to have some alternative units if not. As they were origionally black and sealed units I had to smash the mirrors to dissasemble them for paint !! Polycarbonate screen also made and fitted:

Lots to get on with. Supercharger bracket is also fitted with charger and altenator. Exhaust is back from ceramic coating, just needs fitting back on. Carbon dash is being made. Charge cooler and pre-rad also under way.

More pics to follow soon !!

What are the rules regarding the little screen - is it under a certain size, therfore not considered to be a windscreen?
Sorry, can not answer the question in full. The screen comes with the kit, although I have re-shaped it. I beleive it is due to the size as it then becomes a full screen and has to meet different citeria. Fot IVA it's easier just to remove.

The front and rear wings do make a big difference to the look of the car without them the car doesn't look right. Anyway good work keep it up.
There are front and rear wing kits available from RTR/MEV as an optional extra. I have had my carbon wings made for the car, but yes personaly I agree that the asthetics of the car looks better with them, how they perform - I will have to find out !!

Looking good there Mabbs!

One question though - I notice a distinct lack of tools in your spotless garage - are you sure it's not the kit-fairys building your car???? biggrin
I have a workshop out the back and only assembly is done in the garage !! it has become known as the 'operating theater' on the MEV/RTR forum !!

Sorry, it's just the way I work, and I can assure you there are no 'fairys' !!

Few more progress pics:

Decided to bite the bullet and go for the Tilton 3 chamber reservoir. Had to modify the brake pot lids to take float switches for IVA:

Dash lay-out is now complete. Made a pattern then a pre-preg part to sit the dash2 flush in a recess. Will also be fitting the new Dash 4 pro and a data logger after IVA:

Bonnet Rams also fitted. Easy to fit, but a pig to get the lift correct. Ended up using 150mm stroke length:

Full under bonnet pic. On MEV/RTR forum there has been a good thread with regards cooling from a heavy track day user (thanks Motorhead). Sounds common sense, but directing the air flow though the rad and out the vent rather than just a mass of open air has been given massive gain in temperature drop and stability on track, so panels have been fitted to direct the airflow. Just the front floor pan to fit. Also fitted the pre-rad for the charge cooler. Custom made and a twin-pass unit:

Stunning build, are you really going to fit those red seats? it would look so much better with a pair of carbon Tillett seats.
The origional plan was to fit full carbon seats that weigh 2.2kg each !! They are still available to me, but as the build has progressed I decided I wanted more comfort due to the fact that the useage for me is likley to be more road than track based. (I may be building a race version for the 750 motorclub). Asthetically for me thay suit the car very well for looks but will add around a total of 15kg over the carbon seats. They can be easily changed in the future and have been my only weight gain to the origional plan

Supercharger bracket has been fitted. Just the pulleys, adjuster and new charger to fit (charger fitted is for mock-up):

Loads to be getting on with at the moment including pipework, chargecooler, bulkhead, and fuel tank system. Making good progress for my target completion date !!

As ever looks great! Love the accessory come engine mounting bracket. Really neat idea and keeps everything tidy. Charge cooler heat exchange also looks nice and big, what are it's dimensions?
The pre-rad for the charge cooler is 350mm x 350mm and a 40mm core. It is a twin pass unit so the water runs through the rad twice to aid extra cooling before heading to the charge cooler

Looks stunning so far. When is the target to get it on the road, or is it whenever you get it done.

Keep up the work.
I have had the build 12 months now and I never really give myself a target to get it completed. I wanted to just enjoy putting it together. Without putting myself under any pressure, the car will be registered and roadworthy for Stonleigh next year

Exhaust is back from ceramic coating and re-fitted. Hard wearing and not easy to chip. The company supply F1, lamborghini, Pagani etc. Not as expensive as I initially thought either. They guarentee a 33% heat reduction:

Had some polycarbonate side panels CNC cut as I will not be having an engine cover. Also decided on a solid aluminium fuel filler line with a flexible connection to the tank:
