I know it would probably upset certain people but I've been having dirty thoughts about these cars. Green with black trims instead of chrome and some black modern alloys such as Pro Race or Speedline MO!
No! Just no. nono
Works for me.

Exactly my thought process on the mev forum. Lovely!

18s on air suspension and with neon lights under it? Just kidding as I prefer it with the modern wheels but maybe 15s?

OlberJ: I tried searching for your posts but couldn't find anything. Guess I have to be registered to see those posts?

Cheers for the IVA update, I thought the MX5 version could be classed as a body swap but I guess if you are not using the centre chassis beam it is just two subframes. All the more reason to play around with engine swaps.
I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I understood that trying to class an MX5 kit as a body swap by keeping the centre chassis beam, which isn't really a chassis anyway, is fairly dodgy, and really they should have an IVA.

Might be wrong though.

Which section did you post in? The replicar part seems fairly quiet

I'll probably get a negative reaction - but what about some steel wheels in the 'correct' colour? Maybe a bit too D type, but could look good.

The modern look of those racing wheels is strangely appealing to me ....

Some of the grille / side vent detail removed to go with the modernised look. Number plate blanked so it doesn't distract from the pic smile

That I do like v much, just can't work out which engine I would like. Top of list is a 6 pot BMW.

StephenP - nice photoshopping, the only thing I'd then change is to get rid of the brake cooling vents on the front (assuming that is what they are) and then possibly look at a more modern colour - not sure what though, possibly something like the matt BMW M3/Maserati blue or grey. Still, very nice and I also like the slightly more modern twist rather than trying to make it look like a pukka DBR1.

Velly interlesting, I have always said it would be a real shame if any 2 were built the same.
There is not right or wrong, just personal taste I feel.
The front grilles were actually fog lights or driving lights with protective mesh but on a modern theme what about projector lights in there add some suitable mirrors and perhaps some expanded metal grille is the sides and front in black. What about a bright modern ST Focus hue?

I've not read all the details so apologies if this has been covered, but does this use the same cabin architecture as a normal MX-5? It would be nice if it had a bit more leg-room etc than the standard car.

We managed to get more leg room as we moved the tank 75mm further back. There is plenty of width in the cockpit too.

Thanks! smile

Agree re the vents but I was falling asleep by that point! biggrin I'll see if I can come up with something as well as replace the plate with something suitable.

Who needs sleep when we are on here waiting!!!

I'd like to see different colours too as Stuart does list the different ones available.

The number plate should be a stick on one across the front of the bonnet IMHO, these are probably illegal now but would make it look right, particularly if it was a black/silver one, surely there is someone out there selling these in the ether for a few beer tokens!

Thanks, that sounds encouraging.. I've never tried an MX-5 for size but I am fairly tall, so that extra space could be important.

Cheers.
