Selling prices.I know all the owners.
One of them was considerably more.
These are cars with properly built engines, not just taken straight from the donor.
One car with air con, and a high percentage of new parts.
None of them were budget builds.

The largest gatherings would be Stoneleigh kit car show, which was May bank holiday weekend, and the Silverstone classic which I think is in July this year. If you are really interested have a look on the SEC forum, most events are organised through the forum.
I have a Listerbell, its taken me 2 years to build, passed IVA in February of this year.
As far as build cost goes it really depends on spec, engine choice etc. I would suggest mid 30k for a decent Alfa engined car (standard engine, Alfa ECU) probably add £5k for a Toyota engined car. Obviously once you start modifying engine, aftermarket ECU the sky is the limit.
If you want big BHP then the Toyota engine is a no brainier, 300bhp as standard, you've got to spend a lot of money to get the Alfa v6 anywhere near that.
There is a lot of overseas interest in built registered cars, hence the high second hand values. I believe the 3 cars that have sold on the second hand market have all gone overseas.

I went for group 4 round arch, stradale interior, Chardonnet colours (blue, yellow wheels, white louvres), plain without any rally decals.
Mine has a 3.0 from an Alfa 166. At the time of ordering, the Toyota chassis was still in development, I think if I was starting now I would probably choose the Toyota route. That's not to say I'm not pleased with the Alfa, I really am pleased with how it's turned out.
The Alfa looks great, sounds great and is less expensive but I think the Toyota, being a more modern engine, and giving that extra bit of power would be my choice.
What spec are you thinking? The folks at Listerbell are really helpful, once you've put down you're deposit you don't have to finalise the spec until they actually start to order parts.

I am going with the 3 litre Alfa engine with throttle bodies and a programmable Emerald ecu. I have been happy to be guided by Craig and also the guy who will be building the car for me about upgrading or altering things but in terms of the engine I always had in my head that it would have an Italian V6 so have stuck to that.
Going for the full on Alitalia Group 4 round arch rally replica look, full WRC decals, light pods, fogs, chin spoiler, roof scoop, Group 4 interior and as much NOISE as I can (illegally) get away with. Subtle (not)
Im building one. Fabulous engineering. Ive plumped for an alfa 3.0 litre v6 24v. I have some customs cams from Piper and will fit throttle bodies. Should be good for 290 bhp which is plenty in sub ton car with a very short wheel base! Plus like you I wanted the Italian connection rather than a Japanese one. Try to by a donor with a low mileage engine and gearbox, they are around, just saves on Gearbox rebuild costs etc.
£40K should be about right with the throttle bodies and ECU, that will build a really nice spec car. That's what im budgeting.
