Hello,

Had an interesting day - after having my heart set of getting a westie for my already built toy new toy, I got to see at close hand Tiger equivilent today and have to admit am now questioning my inital thinkings - I prefer the look and just seem to get better value for money relative to a Westie - not hugley knowlegable in these things so any Tiger owners out there with good, bad or ugle stories to tell or westie drivers who know why their cars are more expensive?

Cheers!

P.S Just what a I didnt need, another option!!

I ran a CatE1 for about 2 years before the Ultima! I too was looking at the Westie and thought the Tiger was the better value. My only real regret was not going for the Super 6. I have some friends with the 6 and it is the better car. You don't get the fancy premises and glossy brochures like you do with Westfield and in all honesty the Westie is probably very marginaly the better car and the easier build. But the money you save can be used to add some fancy bits to a Tiger and of course more power.
Which ever way you go you'll love it to bits.

Thanks for the info Paul, are there anything specific that I should look for on a Tiger that are weaknesses or indicators that corners have been cut? Thanks again and can I borrow the keys to the Ultima?!? I will be right back I swear!!! :-)

Sorry mate, the keys appear to be glued to the inside of my pocket!

There are some Tigers out there that were built as part of University/College projects. I know two owners who brought these cars and one has just finished a complete rebuild and the other has just started his!

You can usually tell from your initial impression of a car. Take a look under carpets etc to see how much care has been taken over the panelling. How much refurb work went into any donor parts. Does the wiring loom look tidy etc, etc. Pretty much the same as looking at any used buy really. Rust can set in on older cars around chassis rails and the earlier rads are prone to rusting too. Also, on the CatE1 the rear body section can be difficult to fit so the rear wheels line up with the centre of the wheel arch. Not a huge problem but can look a little naff. Thats about it really.

Paul.

I've had a Super Six with a Pinto athen then a Zetec engine, an R6 with a zetec engine and I'm now on a Z100 with two ZX9 engines.
