Handling - Haynes vs. westfield/fury etc.

I've taken on an unfinished project which was supposedly a Saturn MX5 Haynes chassis. It turns out the chassis isn't quite right for me (see thread here) so I either need to do some work/replace it, or abandon the project entirely.

SteveC said in the other thread if the project was going to cost me £5.5k why not get an early westfield and start from there. That is now basically £6.5k given chassis work or new chassis and E mark headlights etc. that have become apparent this weekend.

So my question is basically, how good is a well built Haynes Roadster/Saturn MX5 roadster?
