It is a VW based kit car and for the life of me I cannot remember its name at the moment?

Interesting way you get in these - the entire roof and windscreen panel open up.

I think this might be the exact car you saw....

First saw one of these as a lad in the 70s.

They were produced in Accrington Lancashire up until 1975.

Production ended up in Shoeburyness not far from me - I remember looking at one at the unit in Vanguards Way early 90s with a Sierra Cossie whale tail grafted on. Certainly they were still producing kits then. They came up with new dash design for it

That gulf car has an Alfa flat 4 engine - up for sale recently for 10k. It's quite highly developed for a Nova.

Apologies - it's this one for sale with 1.7 Alfa lump. Very similar graphics...
