Looks OK
But this:-www.toniqr.co.uk/videosandpics.asp?page_num=2&large_src=2_17.jpg Looks even more special.
Do I detect some hint of Chrysler Prowler in there?? (hope not)
So which grille going on production cars??

Hi Will - do you have frameless glasses and spiky dark hair ? If so I did spot you hanging around the pits
Think it's worth asking ted to correct the prices. Pleased you are still associated with the project, I think its a good one

Yes that'd be me with those glasses! Ted did get the prices right, I was pointing out that it can be a lot more cost effective if you built your own and the price shouldn't put you off the car.
I'm not formally associated with the project any more, I just go along to some of the shows and obviously have a massive interest all that is Toniq.
Thankyou gentlemen for your kind comments, it's great to get such considered feedback so soon after a launch.
It's been a lot of hard work and long hours - but great fun - bringing the Toniq from design prototype to track weapon, and we've been delighted by it's reception. We've a new test driver, an older gentleman who proved quite quick out of the box at Brands on Monday.
He'd asked for a go so we sent him out expecting a couple of laps. We had to flag him back into the pits after six laps, worried that he'd run out of fuel!
The answer to all the questions on specifications is easy. We make bespoke cars, tailored to customers requirements, and so you can pick the grille, colour, power, gearshift, wheels and tyres of your choice. We set the car up to you, your circuit, your roads (for one customer in N Wales) or even your climate (- for the carbon car bought for use on the Bahrain GP circuit)
The lights are a key design feature, and as an option can be removed for track use, then re-attached for the drive home. Cool or what?
The prices on the website are correct, and start from £16,995 plus VAT. A CSR 260, for those clearly confused about equivalencies, starts at £39,790 - so be fair on them!
Please contact either myself or Colin through the website for a quote. Tim, Lawrence - we'll be delighted to hear from you!

£17k+VAT=20K. That's still a good price. My Caterblade was marketed "from £17k", but cost £23k all in (with full cage, 2 seats, wide track, LSD, metallic paint, Barnby wheels etc).
Ariel have shown that punters (particularly the less mechanically inclined) will buy an uncompromised roofless car which isn't a Caterfield and has no "marque history", even if the handling is inferior (I'm talking about early Atoms, according to reviews I read). If this handles "out of the box", and the mechanical integrity & finish are good, I think Toniq have a winner.
If only there was a way to get one on the road over here in the Rep. Ireland.
Does it have a reverse (mechanical or electric)?

And Jim - I see you've finally had someone called Bell in it who can drive it properly
What - you mean you aren't related?
I must admit, giving him a passenger ride was slightly intimidating. I hadn't really thought about it until he mentions casually as we were exiting the pitlane 'I don't think I've ever been driven around a race circuit by anyone else before'
Smashing chap, hung around chatting about the car for ages and then came back at the end to say thankyou.

I heard that at Snetterton the Toniq dropped all its oil (in garage and on track) Is this true?
Wouldn't say all its oil, but quite a bit. Was due to a distorted engine component that stopped the oil filter sealing properly. Fortunately Toniq are now based not far from Snetterton so they got a replacement from the workshop and it was fine after that.
Thanks Graham, yes - frustratingly we spat oil but it was just the filter seal itself that failed. We brought out a new filter holder assembly but a new (different brand) oil filter sorted it. Thanks particularly to Joe Lord from CCT7 cars for helping - never afraid to get his hands dirty! Graham was in for a passenger ride after the first cloudburst, we had the track to ourselves when it was really wet...
According to the MSV staff the Toniq R actually drove the most laps of anyone that day, regardless of some fairly spectacular weather

And Jim's attitude was one of 'Oh great it's wet - let's see how much I can slide it around!'
Quite a bit as it happens, and I have to say the way Jim could casually push the Toniq into a slide round a bend and keep it under control (well most of the time eh Jim? ) was very impressive. Think it spoke volumes about both Jim's car control and the Toniq's handling balance.
