MINARI resurrection ??????

Well spotted. Adrenaline bought the Minari project, which they've developed into the Murtaya. Know they sell parts for the Minari but not sure if they have any intention of producing full kits as the Alfa donors have got to be very rare by now.

Not quite true Graham.
They bought the Minari project, but the Murtaya is a brand new car, designed from scratch.

There are however, no plans for a coupe.

Hi Andy,

Obviously you know more about the car than me, but that's what I was told at Donington. Might however have been more a 'like to do in the future' thing than definite plan though.

Have to disagree there Black5. While the Murtaya might not actually share any tooling or mechanical parts with the Minari, the body styling makes it fairly obvious that it has been developed from it.

Thanks for posting a decent photo of it by the way - the lighting in Donington's hall is a photographer's nightmare.

Hi All

To answer points raised by fuoriserie,

Yes, we did bring in a design consultant. Although all the build was done in house - design was not.

The car uses the donor radiator.

The grilles are as large as they are for a couple of reasons.

1. The nature of Scooby drivers means they are very fond of updating and uprating their engines. The large radiators mean there would be adequate cooling for front mounted oil coolers or a front mounted intercooler, without having to alter the bodywork.

2. When we saw the design drawings we rather liked the look and thought it fitted perfectly with the intended, aggressive nature of the car!!

We also feel the car is going to appeal to a different buyer to the Minari buyer.

Thanks for all the comments BTW. At Adrenaline we are taking note of all that is said.

Cheers

Andy,

Do you still plan to cover the lights and black them out as in the design sketches? I think it would definitely look better.

What is the plan for the soft top roof? That's the area that I feel practically all kit car roadsters fall down, especially if you were to use it regularly. I'd have thought an MX5 roof would be ideal for you, especially with potentially lots going spare as the mechanicals are used in other kits..

My two biggest questions are the same as what ricola asked. Headlight covers and hard top?

Neil told me that the headlight covers will be included with the car along with adhesive for the owner to do with as he/she pleases...Apparently the cars were going to be registered without them because of E-spec headlight regulations; I wasn't sure if this was a US-only issue or not (since I'm in the States)?

I am also VERY interested to see what the hardtop looks like...even if it's not painted, etc. yet...

Thanks again Andy,
Mike

From what I am aware, the hard top is still to be made.

It will be available with everything else when you order the car and will cost iro £750.

I worded my post badly...I knew that they were going to have a hardtop (but I hadn't heard the price until now--thanks black5)...I've just been really eager to see it on the Murtaya...especially if the plans for the coupe are no longer around.

Basically, I'm hoping that the hardtop flows with the other great looks of the car--smooth and round, proportionate, and not looking too out of place. But--judging from the job that AMS has done so far--I'm sure it will look great. It's just that I can't wait to see it.

Thanks,
Mike

Small mention of this car on the EVO website www.evo.co.uk/news/evonews/203868/subaru_impreza.html

I must say i am a BIG fan of this car - the imprezza is a very fast car but this will of course weigh a lot less. With AWD it will be good in the winter also which i think is this cars usp. I also love the sound of the boxer engine from the subaru.

I overtook it a couple of times at the TotalKitCar Live! thing at Brands Hatch. I sincerely hope he was only cruising round. And my car was about 780kgs 2-up with 160 bhp. Looked gorgeous though. Moderatley tuned Subaru's and Evo's are normally fair game but that car seemed no faster than them. I just wonder what they managed to get the weight down to as all that 4WD hardware is quite heavy. I think early Impreza's weigh about 1350kgs Although I don't doubt that with 300bhp it should be an absolute tool if they can get the weight down to 1,000kgs.

Hi Lee,

Thanks again for the ride in your Libra by the way.

The Murtaya's performance was rather limited at Brands because they'd fitted cheapo Chinese Linglong tyres for development running. With the car having also been on the track all Friday, by Saturday they were completely shagged, producing lots of noise but not much grip as I found out when Neil from Adrenaline took me round.

Anyway, they've got some decent tyres on now which should make a big difference.

Due to drive the Murtaya at Castle Combe early next month so should be able to get a better idea of its true performance then.

I haven't got any decent interior shots at the moment as they re-covered it prior to Exeter. It's a nice black with blue trim and does look good.

Weight is less than 950kg and the demo car is kicking out iro 260bhp.

Here are a few more shots:

does the roadgoing version have stick in windows or proper winddown windows?
and is the softtop good anough to handle high speeds without to much noise? or is it better waiting for some good hardtop? (I love a proper roof with no windnoise to spoil)

The car now has electric windows fitted.
Side screens are perspex.
I will have pics of the hard top as soon as it is finished. Have seen it and it fits nicely with the design of the rest of the car.

This might answer some questions:

Just looked at the website, very impressed. This is how modern kit cars should be, and the pricing seems very good, sub 20k is very affordable for a car of that performance.
I wish them all the best with it. And I am glad it was only slow because it was running on knackered tyres. Put a nice set of Toyo's on it and it will fly i am sure!
